Inspirational Birthday Poems for All Ages
When someone's birthday rolls around it's nice to give someone a greeting card along with a present. And if you are giving money as a gift then it's definitely a must to buy a greeting card as you can't just hand that person money in an empty envelope.
You don't just want to get any greeting card however. It has to look beautiful and the text inside has to be meaningful, touching, and inspirational. It's hard to find cards like these nowadays as most of them have text with little to no value inside. So, the best thing to do is to buy a beautiful blank greeting card and write your own text inside it, be it prose or an actual birthday poem. Not only will you end up gifting a beautiful, heartfelt card but it will be even more personal.
That is exactly what I do. When someone's birthday rolls around I buy a blank card and write my own birthday poem inside it, sometimes even adding a bit of prose as well. I don't just write something quick and forget about it. I put thought into each birthday greeting that I write.
Below you will find some of my inspirational birthday poems that I've written for either family or friends. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed bringing them to life.
Basketball-Themed Birthday Poem
Life is a game that you play everyday
You choose different paths that steer the way
If you make the right ones you conquer and win
If you choose the wrong ones you’ll just hit the rim
You won’t make the basket or score a goal
So you must choose wisely when playing your role
There are times when your points of view are rejected
It’s time to take defense and not stand corrected
Take the unbelievers and prove them wrong
Rise to the challenge and come out strong
Succeeding in everything that comes along
You’ve made mistakes and in time you’ll learn
The lessons they teach you as life goes on
You’ll never stop learning the strategies of life
But that’ll make your journey an exciting dive
So much to experience and so much to do
Whatever obstacles hope you’ll make it through
Just keep on believing and look on ahead
You’ve got the drive so don’t be misled
By the negative comments that you might here
Take charge, seize the day, make them disappear
In the end you’ll find the taste of victory is sweet
And life’s fruitful experiences make life complete
May your birthday be one you will never forget
With the sun shining bright and blue skies up ahead
And may your heart be swimming in love
From all the people you’re thinking of
This is a poem that I wrote for my cousin's birthday.
Birthday Poem for Mom
As you awake with the break of light
And ready yourself for the usual flight
That you take every day as you head out the door
And find yourself in a marathon war
Just stop and let your eyes wander round
Open your ears and drink in the sound
Of birds in the trees singing sweet lullabies
Telling you that you should reach for the skies
Make the day last for as long as you can
Without letting worries ruin your plan
Relax for the day and do so more often
Don't let these things make you feel rotten
You need to slow down and enjoy the days
And treat yourself in more wonderful ways
And since your birthday is hanging above
Know that you're wished unconditional love
And are always locked in happy thought
For everything that you have brought
This is a poem that I wrote for my mother's birthday.
Birthday Poem for a Friend
It's hard to believe that your birthday is here
Oh how too quickly passed another year
And even though we have hardly met
Our long conversations I'll never forget
Those made me feel very close to your heart
Even though distance has kept us apart
The many laughs both of us have shared
And always showing me that you cared
With those comforting words you laid on me
Through everything you made me see
Just how lucky I am to have you as a friend
Who is just like a sister and will be there till the end
You're a true confidante who lends me your ear
To just stop and listen and patiently hear
The journey I go through each and every day
My most inner thoughts and feelings that steer the way
You make me feel very special you know
With the love and affection you always show
I truly hope that you feel the same way
And are touched by emotions that I convey
And may this moment stay with you forever
As you turn fifty you're wonderfully clever
You can sail through life with nothing but ease
No matter where life takes you hope it's a breeze
Hope all your dreams and desires come true
So you're never left feeling empty and blue
And last I have one small demand of you
To see each other more often than we seem to
So let's make a promise, let's make a pact
To turn my desire into a fact
This is a poem that I wrote for my mom's friend's birthday.
