MY BLUE HEAVEN

I turned left when I should have gone right

Took a long journey into the darkness of night

Did not get back home until the sun came around

Looking for my blue heaven all over town

I looked up when I should have looked down

Missed that little path there on the ground

Wandered aimlessly until well after seven

Searching the world for my blue heaven

Dazed and confused not knowing where to start

All that was left was to follow my heart

Follow it I did until I was lost and so alone

Looks like my blue heaven might be gone

I looked here and I searched over there

It seems that I was looking everywhere

Anxiously following any clue that was given

Searching the world for my blue heaven

I’ll know it when I see though my eyes have never cast

Upon it’s beautiful future or the history of its past

Looking in closets, drawers, searching everywhere in sight

Looks like my blue heaven has dashed into the night

Lost in time and in space, lost among the human race

Needing so much for some new direction to chase

Looking in houses, stores, even Seven-Eleven

Searching the world for my blue heaven

It’s Paradise lost and an Eden never to be found

I’ve searched high and low; simply looked all around

It’s just got to be there; find it I certainly must

Before my blue heaven is lost in time’s dust

Sometimes we search for that which we have already found.

Great stuff Wayne!

A feeling we all have, I think.

Wow! Beautiful. Melancholy, hopeful, sorrowful . . .

Love the line: Upon it’s beautiful future or the history of its past.

My daughter is having a January Blues party next weekend (whatever that is). I'm going to share your poem and video/song with her.

I dunno, Wayne, You may be looking in some of the wrong places. All I ever found in a Seven/Eleven was a Slurpee!

Enjoyed your search though, and the very appropriate video. Thanks.

@Truckstop Sally...Well perfect! I'll get to be a part of the party! WB

@drjb...It was the last place I looked but I had to include it! LOL! WB

You'd be the life of the party!! Bring your guitar!! Only problem, her parties usually start after my bed time!! I've been asked to bring my famous cakeballs, but I have to find some way to decorate them with blue. Not a lot of foodstuffs in the color blue.

@Truckstop Sally...I'm afraid they would be bored with me before I could sit down! The cakeballs sound good though! LOL! WB

..the more you search, the more you know you have it... To learn you were born with everything you need is an awe inspring notion...

I was born with nothing and still have most of it!

@dallas93444...Amen to that...nothing is the one thing they can't take away from you. I am gonna stock up on it! LOL! WB

Wayne- this was a very enjoyable poem. I love the music. I love the fact that you even looked in a Seven Eleven, which, of course, means you have been thorough.

I hope if you ever look there again you take drbj's tip and grab a Slurpie. It will make the rest of the re-looking more enjoyable.

@sueroy333...I wonder how it would have gone if I had written a poem about finding my blue heaven at a 7-Eleven! LOL! I'll remember that Slurpie! WB

I found my "blue heaven" in the arms of Jesus. I found my blue heaven on earth on the sandy beaches of Lake Michigan in the summer and in Florida the rest of the year. I found my heart's blue heaven in my husband.

This is one of my favorites of yours Wayne. You are a master!

@prasetio30...I just let my imagination run totally free and it finds these words like pretty shells dotting a beach. I am so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the kind words! WB

@cjv123...you are one of those people that I have no doubt knows exactly where your "blue heavens" are...just as you describe. If we find those things in life, nothing else much matters. Thanks, Carol! WB
