When My Mind Takes Flight ( a poem of greatest inspiration)
If I could fly with the eagles, those great hawks, grandest birds of the air,
I would scale the loftiest heights, among white clouds and blue skies, fair.
I would breathe sweet scents, so rare, catch sunbeams, there all to share,
My strong wings, by day to grant my flight, soar by moon at night. as I dare.
Over the highest mountain's tops, I'd so wing, then fly to heaven, as angels sing,
If I could do this, of ten thousand things, precious thoughts to my mind it brings.
Wild geese, sweet ducks, sea birds, all dance, a joy to see them, if only a chance,
All marvels of nature, birds, our lives do enhance, so delight us, as in a romance.
As each day is over, setting sun in the sky, I search for night birds, to see them fly,
All-seeing eyes scan the sky, see things we'ed never see, as is morning by and by.
Chimney swifts, great owls, search all domains, feel evening breezes, every grain.
Then all return to hiding places, towering trees, each graces, high over every lane.
Now is so to be, each and every night, I lower the shutters, turn down the lights,
I try to rest with all my might, with my closed eyes, to review the day's fine sights.
Wearily, and after the long day has run, a welcoming sleep, the night has begun,
Amid the darkness, as all chores are done, I fly in my dreams, to have some fun.
