My Precious Little Baby Boy Poem

A Poem for my Son

My Precious Baby Boy

The leaves belong to the trees

the fish belong to the sea,

What is there in this world

that belongs to only me?

Then along came this gift of life

a little bundle of joy,

Someone that I could call my own

my precious baby boy.

I looked down at his tiny face

his eyes not ready yet to see,

He made a little cooing noise

and a rush of love came over me.

I longed to keep him in my arms

and never let him go,

To take him home and comfort him,

teach him everything I know.

I treasured all his first times

his steps, his tooth, his word

I treasure memories of his birthdays

his first, second and third.

My baby's now a little boy

he's loving, clever and funny,

even on the dullest day

he makes my world seem sunny.

I look at this little part of me

with his blue eyes and blond hair,

and put all my worries to one side

and give him all my love and care.

He is such an adorable child

who brings such love and fun,

my baby boy's so special to me

I am extremely proud of my son.

Wrote for my eldest son Dec 2003.
