New Moon - Embracing Shadow
New Moon - Embracing Shadow
New Moon, Dark and Cold
Sister to the Light
Moving through the winter sky
On this Star filled night
In the darkness there is a void
Holding secrets we can feel
Magic from another realm
Or tragedy concealed
We’re drawn to find you
When most wouldn’t even look
No fame like phases of your siblings
No mentions in most books
New Moon, No Glow
No Lovers look upon you
Nor gaze into your face
And admire your lovely hue
Instead thieves and madmen
And wandering bands of soulless
Take advantage of your shadow
Enjoy this night of deadness
They commit themselves to crimes
Believing prisons cannot connect them
For in absence of the light
The mirror holds no reflection.
New Moon, Solid at your Core
Light and Shadow quite subdued
All who fear the light or darkness
Find solace prostrate before you
The Shadow Muse plays beneath your rays
Bending time and light
The fairies dance with sweet romance
Setting their hay bales alight
All woodlands play in shadow foray
Knowing this special night
There will be an answer from the Forest Blade Dancer
Who fiddles and diddles delight
So in the New Moon, set out your runes
And join in the sacred dance
Be pure of heart, and you will start
To feel the heat and fire of romance
If a cold wind should blow through the ice and snow
Know the fires still burn from within
And keep bundled up tight, by your own firelight
Crack a window for the fairies and kin.
