Pay Me To Do Chores!- An Inspirational Short Story
“Pick up that trash, toss it in the trash container, wipe the counter, and broom that floor,” said Momma. “Awe mom, I don’t want too!” Jewel whined while she stomp her feet. “Jewel stop whining, you have to help mommy so we can get things done faster!” said Momma.
“Momma!!!” cried Jewel.
Jewel than picks up the trash and tossed it in the trash container; frowning. She went back inside and wipes the counter and brooms the floor “ping ping...bang bang...pow pow!” the sound of her cleaning were heard across the room.
After Jewel broom the floor, momma ask Jewel to pick up her toys, fix her bed, and take the basket of her dirty clothe to the laundry room.
Tired, frustrated, and angry at her mother Jewel angrily murmured to herself, “Urgh!! I hate my life! Why do I have to do this stupid work! Stupid stupid stupid!!!” cried Jewel hitting her bed with her fist. “What’s that I heard Jewel?” asked Momma. “Nothing mom, I’m cleaning!” Jewel excused.
After Jewel finish picking up her toys and fixing her bed, Jewel than took her dirty clothe to the laundry room. Rushing back up to her bedroom, Jewel grabs a piece of paper and wrote:
For all the chores I’ve done:
Pick up the trash- .50 cent
Toss it in the trash container- .25
Wipe the counter- $3.00
Broom the floor- $5.00
Picking up my toys- $1.00
Fixing the bed- $1.25 cent
Take my dirty laundry to the basement- $2.00
Total that you owe me is: $13.00 DUE TODAY"
Jewel than gave it to her mom. Her mom read and she glance at her daughter. She grabs the pencil and wrote:
"For nine month I carried you while you were growing:
After giving birth to you
For all the night and days I watched/ cared/ bathe you
For all the shelter, toys, clothes, and food
For all the worries and prayer
For all the tears you’ve cause through the years
For all the love I’ve given you
Momma than gave it to her daughter to read. When Jewel read what her mother wrote, Jewel eyes became watery and said, “Momma! I love you!” Jewel than wrote in big letter: PAID! She hug her mother endlessly and said, “Mom, you’re the best! Thank you for all you have done for me!”
