Starlight: Poetry and Other Words

Starlight

The sky above reflects our hearts,

As shooting stars across they dart,

Pinpoints of light against the gray,

Confusion lies, but truth must stay,

The day must reach a tragic end,

As starlight shines, our hearts will mend.

"A true star doesn't shine for itself, but rather illuminates those around it. Then, not only can it see clearly, but, in the process, it gives sight to others."~Ebower

Star Flies

"Your love-song leads the stars to dance",

He said as in a magic trance,

I laughed and smiled to call his lie,

I said, "They couldn't if they tried!"

He winked at me, unscrewed a jar,

We viewed the dancing from afar.

Flights of Fancy

Wish, Wish, Wish,

As stars slowly swish,

Across my sky, across my dreams,

A brighter light then pale moonbeams,

Bursting colors filled with abstract trances,

The stars twinkle gladly when the sky romances,

Imagination abounds as midnight ensues,

The velvet night whispers, visions come into view.

Erin, I really enjoyed reading all of these but especially "Star Flies". It elicited such vivid memories of watching swarms of fire flies back when I lived in Georgia and South Carolina. Lovely!

I am glad I could conjure up some pleasant memories for you, Poetic Fool. I've always lived in Georgia, but I have never really watched them or tried to catch them. Thanks for your response!

This is so beautiful, I loved everything about it, and the pictures really enhanced the words, great writing.

Hey, these are great! I absolutely love the night sky. Living in the city now, I miss being able to see the stars at night. These brought back good memories. Well done :)

Jennuhlee: Thanks so much! I appreciate you saying that, because I put alot of thought and time into finding and displaying the pictures that I use. Thanks for reading!

ahorseback: Thanks for your kind words. I put a lot of work into my star quote. Also, I believe that the Vincent Van Gogh quote encompasses and explains the whole article.

sonia05: Thanks! I had a great time putting it all together. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

emichael: I'm sure you do. I don't live in the city, but I don't really go star gazing. The best view of stars I have ever had was when I went on a mission trip to Nicaragua in the mountains; they were just dazzling. I'm glad I could remind you of great times. Thanks for sharing your related experience.

CMCastro: Thank you! I think I have a rather large imagination and I like to channel it when I'm being creative. Thanks for stopping by!

Engaging poems, with excellent background photos.

A confession: in the middle poem, I didn't quite understand the reference to the jar. Was the word chosen purely for its rhyming function?

Blessings.

Thanks! The poem was about a boyfriend that held some fireflies in a jar (I've heard that people catch them in a jar) and set them free in front of the eyes of his girlfriend.

This is very beautiful. There is nothing quite like a dark night sky lit with stars like a thousand fireflies. Thank you for your awesome hub!

What does the jar refer to in the middle poem; do you remember?

Great pictures and words in this hub.

f: There were fireflies in the jar (he caught them and then released them). Thanks; I try to paint pictures with words and express myself through the photos.
