Like a two-winged creature heading south
A jet with unlimited fuel
Time has flown
Healing memories that were so cruel.
Yet . . .
Some recollections remain so clear
Causing a tremendous amount of fear
The awful things that took place
I just can’t bare to see your face.
Still looking over my shoulder
Not as often today
Gaining wisdom as I get older
Fading thoughts along the way.
Craving answers from you
Through a nightmare here and there
I don’t respond
I wouldn’t dare.
Time goes on healing
And I have a feeling
That because you are no longer near
I will celebrate every new year.
