Writing A Poem
WRITING A POEM
I've been trying to write a poem
For what feels like ages
But i keep looking down
And there's only blank pages.
Should i use prose
Or a lot of rhyming
The last thing i want
Is poetic social climbing.
It's a real problem
It must be writers block
I'm now spending all my time
Just looking at the clock.
I'm really struggling now
But i have a hunch
I'll stop this at the moment
And i'll go and have my lunch.
I settle down at the table
Have some food and drink
Then without pressure
I begin to think.
I go back to writing
And what do you know
The break has worked a treat
And the words begin to flow.
Just like a gardener
Who has plants and wants to grow them
An idea takes root
And becomes a fully-fledged poem.
