You Looked At Me
Lindsey 10 Years Old
Your Eyes
On the first day as your life began,
Being the first to hold you, I was a happy man.
You looked at me with your little eyes,
And with that look you won my tie.
You learned to say the magic words "daddy please",
Then with those eyes you'd look at me.
You won my love so naturally,
To give that look, I had to please.
As years went on as you would say "daddy please",
Then look up so sad as you looked at me,
So many times looking at you,
My heart would melt and give into.
I learned to ask "did you ask your mom" and "what did she say",
To many times I crossed that line the difficult way.
You still today have it down I see.
But feal you still looking up at me.
All I can do is look away slow,
And have no way to tell you no.
I see you like it was yesterday,
And always will love you the same way.
