Decorating Around a Mocha Sofa Sectional

Updated on December 9, 2013

Sectional sofas are a great addition to almost any living room. They are a great way of providing plenty of seating within a room while using less floor space. They are also a great way of creating a natural conversation area. Sectionals are great for family rooms, since they make it easy for families to sit together for the purpose of watching television or playing games. In the case of a mocha sofa sectional, you'll also have the advantage of working with a great warm color that coordinates well with many other accent shades.

Creating a Great Sectional Sofa Arrangement

When choosing an area for a sectional sofa, the ideal location is often a corner that is out of the way of the normal walkways within the room. Since people will be sitting here together to talk and engage in activities, you don't want to place the sectional in an area where they will be constantly interrupted by foot traffic as others navigate throughout the room. If you have a corner sectional, it can fully utilize the seating space in the corner of a room. Adding a coffee table or ottoman to the corner is also extremely handy. You should also place an end table on either end of the sectional for added convenience.

Even if you have a straight sectional sofa, you might want to consider dividing it and using it in a corner. If you do this, you can place a square table in the corner of the room, with one piece of the sectional on each side. Then, after placing an end table on both ends of the sectional, there will be plenty of easily accessible table space for everyone sitting on the sofa. If there is a television within the room, place the sectional sofa in a location where the TV is clearly visible.

Accentuating the Mocha Color

Mocha is a really great decorating color. It is extremely versatile and works well with a variety of other colors. You can create many different looks within a room, simply by changing the accent colors used in throw pillows, metal wall art hangings and other decorative wall art, lamp shades, picture frames, vases, as so forth. To create a relaxing, simple and earthy look within the room, use other neutral shades such as cream, white or a coordinating shade of beige along with mocha. A few cream colored throw pillows would work great with a mocha sectional. You can create a warm and friendly look by using other warm colors such as yellow, orange and red along with mocha. These colors can be used to add a lively look to the room, which is often a good choice for the family room. You could also utilize cool colors along with mocha to create a more serene environment. Good color choices include soft blues, sage green, or teal. These colors are also good choices if you enjoy using natural elements in your decorating scheme, such as including a water fountain in the room or plant accents. Mocha also works extremely well with pink or turquoise, which can add a bit of fun retro flair to the room. You can combine either of these colors with mocha and cream for a beautiful look.
