Cheap Packing Materials - Cardboard Shipping Boxes

Updated on September 27, 2012

Boxes

If you're moving, it's probably easier to go to your work or find someone who can get you a ton of large paper boxes. That way you can either return them or throw them out when you're done and you didn't have to spend any money.

But, if you're shipping a lot of packages, whether it's the holiday season and you're shipping gifts to family, or you're starting a new business, you don't want to ship with used boxes. It just doesn't create the right appeal... Well, if you're just shipping gifts to family and friends out of town, then you can probably get away with using old boxes, but if you're shipping because you've got a business or you sold a few things on eBay, it's good to use new boxes.

You don't want to purchase expensive boxes because you want to keep your expenses low so to keep your profits high, so the best thing to do is buy shipping boxes in bulk. This way, you'll get the best deal.

There are different place where you can purchase boxes for shipping, to include UPS, a local postal service, a chain shipping store, and even storage units. The problem with these places is that you may end up paying more for one or two boxes than you would if you spent a little more and bought and entire pack of boxes.

When buying products in bulk, you may spend a few more dollars, but you're saving per individual item within the bulk lot. So, but purchasing your shipping boxes in a larger lot, you'll find you're reducing your overhead costs.

Again, if you're moving and you just want moving boxes, you can purchase them in a group lot, but because you'll more than likely just throw away the boxes, you probably just want to see if you can find some free ones at your employer.

When buying shipping boxes and packing material, it's a good idea to check ebay for the best bulk prices. You can find small, medium, large, and even extra large cardboard boxes for really good prices. Just make sure that you check the description so that you don't purchase just one box, when you may be looking for 10 or more.

Some of the best deals for shipping boxes can be found on ebay. For example, you can purchase:

  • 25 boxes, measuring 6" x 6" x 4" for $16.95
  • 25 boxes measuring 14" x 14" x 7" for $37
  • 25 boxes measuring 18" x 15" x 12" for $47
  • 25 boxes measuring 20" x 12" x 6" for $40
  • 25 boxes, measuring 20" x15" x 12" for $60

Depending on what you're looking for, you will be able to find different size cardboard boxes and for different prices. These are just the average prices that you'll find available for some of the more common sized cardboard shipping boxes.

If you want even larger lots, you may need to contact a shipping service to get a larger bulk rate for boxes. Otherwise, ebay is generally a great place to find cheap deals.
