The Best HMA MT4 Indicator

Updated on August 30, 2011

What is a Hull Moving Average

The Hull moving average is an indicator that you can apply for getting the moving average of a currency pair in forex, or in any other kind of investment chart. The Hull moving average is also known as the HMA indicator. It is likely to be the best moving average to use when trading forex. The HMA is closer to price then a simple moving average and it has reduced lag due to its unique equation.

The HMA is derived from the following equation:

HMA(n) = WMA(2*WMA(n/2) – WMA(n)),sqrt(n))

If you are looking for the MT4 code for the Hull Moving Average Indicator ( HMA ) then you came to the right place !

Lots of traders have developed many strategies for entries and exits but they base their forex systems off this one indicator. It's very simple to follow. You simply take a trade when the HMA changes color.

There are a few important variables in this HMA code.

~ Change the colors to fit your needs ( I think red for shorts and blue for longs is the best because you can quickly identify which way you need to go )

~ Change the plotting method ; Lines or Dots ( I prefer dots, because again, it allows me to quickly identify which way you need to trade. Since I trade off the color change and not a bounce like a traditional moving average, the dots work best )

~ You can also change the size of the HMA line or the dots for better visibility

~ The MA period length is important !! It must coincide with your trading style ! If you are trading like me, off the HMA color change, then I suggest using what ever period fits your price action accurately. For instance, in normal market conditions, I use a 20 period HMA on my 5 minute eur/usd chart, or a 34 period HMA on my 15 minute eur/usd chart. You can choose the HMA period by 2 different ways, fibonacci numbers or round numbers.

Alright, now lets get this HMA code installed into MT4 so you can start trading profitably!
