The Hull moving average is an indicator that you can apply for getting the moving average of a currency pair in forex, or in any other kind of investment chart. The Hull moving average is also known as the HMA indicator. It is likely to be the best moving average to use when trading forex. The HMA is closer to price then a simple moving average and it has reduced lag due to its unique equation.

The HMA is derived from the following equation:

HMA(n) = WMA(2*WMA(n/2) – WMA(n)),sqrt(n))

For instance, in normal market conditions, I use a 20 period HMA on my 5 minute eur/usd chart, or a 34 period HMA on my 15 minute eur/usd chart. You can choose the HMA period by 2 different ways, fibonacci numbers or round numbers.
