PROPHETIC WORLD CLOCK - Biblical Countdown for the End of the Current Age

OUR CLOCK represents the last seven years of the "Common Era" (C.E. or A.D. Anno Domini) traditionally reckoned as the era following the conception or birth of Jesus of Nazareth, with C.E. counting the years since the start of this epoch.

THE TIME on the "Prophetic Clock", is shown as "7 minutes 'till Midnight", reflecting the last seven years of this age, which is the point in time that we are rapidly approaching now.

"And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom [ Christ the Lord ] is coming; go out to meet him!’" (Matthew 25: NKJ)

This of course referring to the seven years of the "Great Tribulation Period", the final end of this age and the start of the next, the coming Kingdom of Christ on Earth for the next 1000 years. The time on the clock will ONLY change when that day finally arrives; until the final minutes start counting down it will remain at (11:53 C.E.).

This IS NOT the "Doomsday Clock" either (at least not for the "saved" believers), but reflects a time for great rejoicing in the next age that is coming and a message of hope and salvation for the rest of the world; all those who have not found the love and grace of the Lord God yet.

Attack Injures 57 Jordanian Protesters

AFP - Government supporters hurled large stones at a pro-reform demonstration by students in the Jordanian capital Amman on Friday, injuring 57 protesters, an AFP journalist reported. About 200 people attacked the sit-in, in which around 2000 youths from different movements, including the powerful Islamist opposition, took part to call for reforms to the current regime and more efforts to fight corruption.

On Thursday night, government supporters attacked the young protesters with stones, injuring at least 30 people.

Dozens of Syrians Reported Killed in Daraa

(CNN) -- Violent protests erupted Friday in Syria, with dozens of people killed in and around the restive city of Daraa and a boy slain in the coastal town of Latakia, reports said. Among the dead were 15 people who tried to march to Daraa, sources said, and nine others who died when security forces fired on demonstrators in Daraa's main square, said Wissam Tarif, a human rights activist.

Aman al Aswad, a political dissident, said dozens of people appeared to have been killed or wounded in clashes with security forces in the square, but he could not be precise on the totals.

CNN could not independently confirm the accounts as the Syrian government has yet to grant access to the network.

The situation in Syria has drawn concern from the international community. The United Nations said Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon spoke by phone with President Assad.

Human Rights Watch, among other groups, said Thursday that around three dozen people were killed in clashes in a 48-hour period.

"Syria's security forces are showing the same cruel disregard for protesters' lives as their counterparts in Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, and Bahrain," said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East and North Africa director at Human Rights Watch.

The state news agency reported that an armed gang attacked security forces in the southern city of Sanamen, which "resulted in the deaths of several attackers."

Video was posted on YouTube purporting to show the scene of the shooting. It shows hundreds of young men and boys walking down a street, then turning around and running back as gunfire breaks out.

Bin Laden Sets Alarm Bells Ringing

SLAMABAD - After a prolonged lull, the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has launched a series of covert operations in the rugged Hindu Kush mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan following strong tip-offs that al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has been criss-crossing the area in the past few weeks for high-profile meetings in militant redoubts.

Asia Times Online has learned that decision-makers have put a lot of weight on the information on Bin Laden's movements as it has come from multiple intelligence agencies, in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia.

The development has fueled speculation in intelligence circles that al-Qaeda could be planning another major attack along the lines of the September 11, 2001, assault on New York and Washington, and the July 2007 foiled bomb attack in London.

The Fall of the House of Harper: Liberal Non-Confidence Motion Passes

OTTAWA — The Harper government has been defeated in the House of Commons on a non-confidence motion supported by the opposition, setting the stage for a federal election in early May. The Liberal motion declared that the government is in contempt of Parliament and has lost the confidence of the Commons.

The campaign for Canada’s 41st election is expected to officially begin Saturday morning, when Prime Minister Stephen Harper is expected to visit Rideau Hall to ask Gov. Gen. David Johnston to dissolve Parliament. Canadians will be going to the polls for the fourth time in roughly seven years. The Liberal motion stated that the Commons agreed with the committee’s finding that the government was in contempt.

Government house leader John Baird responded by accusing the opposition of putting their lust for power above the interests of Canadians. He noted the opposition’s hold a majority on the committee that recommended the government be found in contempt of Parliament. No government has been found in contempt of Parliament in Canadian history.

The opposition parties will put the spotlight on what they describe as the Conservatives’ lack of ethics and accountability. The opposition will point to a string of recent controversies around the Tories, including charges that Conservative officials breached Canada’s election law, and allegations that a former adviser to the prime minister was lobbying for deals that would have benefited his fiancée, a former escort.

European Union Summit Begins In Brussels

Leaders of European Union states are expected to focus on the debt crisis facing their economies, including Portugal, during a two-day summit starting in Brussels Thursday. EU officials are concerned that debt troubles in one member country will impact the financial well-being of all members.

EU leaders intend to work on developing a plan to keep their countries solvent during the Brussels talks. But opposition to austerity measures across the EU is growing and police are bracing for thousands of demonstrators to converge on the EU summit.

Religion May Become Extinct in Nine Nations, Study Says

A study using census data from nine countries shows that religion there is set for extinction, say researchers. The study found a steady rise in those claiming no religious affiliation. The result, reported at the American Physical Society meeting in Dallas, US, indicates that religion will all but die out altogether in those countries.

Dr Wiener continued: "In a large number of modern secular democracies, there's been a trend that folk are identifying themselves as non-affiliated with religion; in the Netherlands the number was 40%, and the highest we saw was in the Czech Republic, where the number was 60%."

They found, in a study published online, that those parameters were similar across all the countries studied, suggesting that similar behaviour drives the mathematics in all of them. And in all the countries, the indications were that religion was headed toward extinction.

Muslims Attack Christian in Egypt, Cut Off His Ear

(AINA) -- A group of Muslims attacked Ayman Anwar Mitri, a 45 year old Christian Coptic man in the Upper Egyptian town of Qena, cutting off his ear. The Muslims claimed they were applying Sharia law because Mr. Mitri allegedly had an illicit affair with a Muslim woman, Sabrin Saif Al-Nasr. The Muslims called the police and told them "We have applied the law of Allah, now come and apply your law," according to Mr. Mitri in an interview for the Egyptian Human Rights Organization.

The police came and rescued Mitri and Sabrin, who told the police the Muslims forced her to lie about the illicit relationship between her and Mitri. A police report was issued, but no arrests were made.

Mr. Mitri appeared on the Coptic TV channel CTV, where he was asked about the reason he agreed to reconcile and forfeit his rights. Mitri said while sobbing "I was threatened, they threatened to kidnap the female children in our family."

thousands of Christians Displaced in Ethiopia - Muslim Extremists Torch Churches and Homes

Thousands of Christians have been forced to flee their homes in Western Ethiopia after Muslim extremists set fire to roughly 50 churches and dozens of Christian homes. At least one Christian has been killed, many more have been injured and anywhere from 3,000 to 10,000 have been displaced in the attacks that began March 2 after a Christian in the community of Asendabo was accused of desecrating the Koran.

The violence escalated to the point that federal police forces sent to the area two weeks ago were initially overwhelmed by the mobs. The string of attacks comes on the heels of several reports of growing anti-Christian tension and violence around the country where Muslims make up roughly one-third of the total population but more than 90 percent of the population in certain areas, 2007 Census data shows.

Bangladesh Jails Christian Evangelist

DHAKA, BANGLADESH (BosNewsLife) - A young Christian evangelist has been sentenced to one year imprisonment for "creating chaos" by selling and distributing Christian books and other literature near a major Muslim gathering north of Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, trial observers said Thursday, March 24.

Biplob Marandi, 25, was reportedly sentenced by a magistrate court in Gazipur district on February 28 after he was detained in January near a gathering of the massive 'Bishwa Ijtema', or World Muslim Congregation, on the banks of the Turag River near the town of Tongi.

No 'Revolution' for Egypt's Christians

On March 5, Muslims attacked, plundered, and set ablaze an ancient Coptic church in Sool, a village near Cairo, Egypt. Afterwards, throngs of Muslims gathered around the scorched building and pounded its walls down with sledge hammers—to cries of "Allahu Akbar!" Adding insult to injury, the attackers played "soccer" with the relic-remains of the church's saints and martyrs and transformed the desecrated church into a mosque (a live example of history, which witnessed countless churches seized and transformed into mosques). As a result of Christian girls being abducted and raped and overall terrorization of the Coptic community, thousands fled the village. (See this letter to Egypt's military leadership signed by twenty congressmen discussing this and similar anecdotes.)

Radical sheikh Muhammad Hassan, who was commissioned to investigate the incident, recently shared his "findings" on Egyptian TV. After insisting to Coptic viewers that "Islam is a religion of peace, mercy, and justice," he said that the "Muslim youth" who attacked the church never intended to do so; rather, they went there searching for a Coptic man. After invading the church, they discovered ancient liturgical books in the Coptic script, and papers with the names of Muslims. These were interpreted as "sorcery"—hence, they destroyed the church. (The fact is, some Muslims venerate St. Mary and often submit their names at churches for intercession.)

As medieval as this entire anecdote is—and as anachronistic as Hassan's rationale of "sorcery" is—none of this is surprising. What is disappointing, however, is that the Egyptian army—recently touted as the noble "savior" of the Egyptian people—and the Arabic media—which provided 24-hour coverage of the Tahrir Square protests—have both blatantly demonstrated their bias against Egypt's Christians.

Aside from what all this bodes for the Copts, Western observers should also be concerned. For starters, that the Western media closely followed Al Jazeera's lead during the Tahrir Square protests, while being virtually clueless of these massive Christian uprisings, suggests that, when it comes to information on the Middle East, the Western mainstream media is heavily dependent on the Arab media, especially Al Jazeera. This is not to say that the West agrees with the point of view put forth by Al Jazeera. But it is to say that whether an issue even makes it to the Western media—makes it to the West's knowledge—is very much dependent on whether Islamist-leaning Al Jazeera wants to publicize it or not.

Israel and Egypt's Christians Fear Hasty Elections

Israel and Egypt’s 10 million Coptic Christians have a common fear that hasty elections in post-Mubarak Egypt will allow Islamic radicals to rise to power, much as they did following Iran’s revolution in 1979.

According to Reuters, most of Egypt’s Christians voted on Saturday against proposed constitutional amendments out of concern that they would lay the groundwork for general elections as early as September. If elections are held so soon in Egypt, there will be almost no time for newly formed political parties to gain enough recognition and popularity to actually win any significant number of votes. That means only the established parties will have a real shot at winning a controlling stake in the next parliament.

In an interview with CNN, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the region simply cannot survive Egypt becoming a second Islamic Republic (after Iran).

Netanyahu noted that five years ago the Lebanese rose up just as the Egyptians did last month. They took to the streets of Beirut in their millions and demanded freedom and reform. Today, Lebanon is more under the thumb of Hizballah than ever before, and is little more than a vassal of Iran.

Franklin Graham: World’s Christians in Grave Danger

The Muslim Brotherhood, with the complicity of the Obama administration, has infiltrated the U.S. government at the highest levels and is influencing American policy that leaves the world’s Christians in grave danger, warns internationally known evangelist Franklin Graham.

"The Muslim Brotherhood is very strong and active here in our country," Graham tells Newsmax. "We have these people advising our military and State Department. We’ve brought in Muslims to tell us how to make policy toward Muslim countries.

A new report from the Roman Catholic aid agency Aid to the Church in Need supports Graham’s contention that the persecution of Christians worldwide has worsened exponentially in the past few years. According to the report, Christians face increased suffering in 22 countries around the world, with Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Pakistan, and Nigeria being among the worst countries to be a Christian in today. The persecution has gotten markedly worse over the past two years according to the organization.

More than 75 percent of religious persecution in the world is currently being carried out against Christians, the report concludes.

Asked if President Barack Obama was doing enough to protect Christians at home and abroad, Graham says, "No. If anything it’s the opposite."

"Muslims are protected more in this country than Christians," he says. "The president has made many statements but he doesn’t back them up. We have to do more to protect the Christians in the Muslim world. Their lives are in danger."

Graham, however says what Obama is really doing is "giving Islam a pass" rather than speaking openly about the "horrific" treatment women and minorities receive.

Gaza Missiles Inch Closer to Tel Aviv

Gaza-based Palestinian terrorists again escalated their confrontation with Israel on Thursday when they fired foreign-built missiles at towns just 10 miles south of the heavily-populated Tel Aviv metropolitan region.

Israeli responded with tank fire into Gaza. A Hamas facility in Gaza City was destroyed by the retaliatory barrage. Israeli aircraft also attacked terrorist cells attempting to launch additional missiles into Israel.

World Boycot of Israel!

European consumers are being urged to boycott products made in Israel. "Beware of number 729. Make sure not to buy anything with Barcode 729!" "Almost all products have an EAN-Barcode which appears on the package. Enough with Israeli products! Palestinian children are being killed by Israeli weapons!" This boycott is also being extended into a world stage, including support within the United States.

Anti-Israel organizations like BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) are becoming more aggressive. The 7th Annual Israeli Apartheid Week was held in 50 cities around the world in March, with most events taking place on college campuses. Pro-Palestinian groups have flooded YouTube with videos, justifying their hatred of Israel in the name of justice, human rights and protection of the defenseless Palestinians.

"This is reminiscent of Nazi Germany," said Holocaust survivor Yitzhak Friedman. "It was the Nazis who boycotted shops with the slogan, ‘Don’t buy from Jews!’"

"In theory the BDS preaches human rights, international justice and peace in the Middle East," says the Reut Institute, an Israeli research organization. "But practically, this pro-Palestinian movement supports the delegitimization of Israel by undermining its right to exist as a Jewish and democratic state."

The boycott of Israel is currently gaining steam in both the United States and Europe.

Another Gaza War Just a Matter of Time

Palestinian terrorists operating out of the Gaza Strip fired a Grad-type short-range missile at the Israeli coastal town of Ashkelon on Sunday, as observers warned that Israel’s deterrence is eroding. On Saturday, Gaza-based terrorists significantly escalated the situation when they fired no fewer than 50 mortar shells at farming communities in southern Israel. At least one Israeli was wounded by shrapnel.

Israel invaded the Gaza Strip in December 2008 following a major escalation of Hamas-led artillery attacks on southern Israel. Since that brief war, which Israel was harshly criticized for, military officials have been warning that the next Gaza war is only a matter of time.

The reason is that the international community is all to ready to jump on Israel’s back for defending itself, but does little to nothing to curb the provocative attacks that eventually necessitate an Israeli response. And Hamas knows this all too well.

The December 2008-January 2009 Gaza war, dubbed Operation Cast Lead, dealt a heavy blow to Hamas and its terrorist allies, and they are likely not ready for a repeat just yet. But commentators in the Israeli media are warning that the IDF’s deterrence is eroding, as it always tends to do when the enemy is left to fight another day.

There is a Message of HOPE for the WORLD!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even though everything we have discussed and shown thus far seems to depict a tragic and fateful end for our world, that is actually NOT THE CASE! The state of humanity's existence does not end in chaos or complete destruction at this time. Nor will these events leave the whole world in a panicked state of confusion, always to be frustrated in futile attempts trying to achieve a Utopian existence. The "Great Tribulation" period is only for a few short years and is merely a transitional period at end of an age. A NEW AGE IS COMING immediately thereafter!

"...SEE THAT YOU ARE NOT TROUBLED; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet." (Matthew 24:6 NKJ)

"All these are the beginning of birth pains [sorrows]." (Matthew 24:8 NIV-KJV)

This is probably the most accurate representation of the entire "Great Tribulation" event. "Birth pains" are very discomforting and often quite painful. A new birth involves "labor" which is an extremely strenuous and exhausting process (ask any woman who has endured this). The end result however, is "relief" from this labor and suffering because a "new life" is then born!

That is exactly what will transpire in this world. We are in the final chapter of an old and worn out age of civilization. A grand and glorious new age lies directly ahead for those of us that endure and have accepted the Lord God.

"These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them. Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
(Revelation 7:14-17 NIV)

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF ALL THESE PROPHECIES

Therefore, these sometimes frightening words of prophecy are really a harbinger of hope to those who are searching for God today. It is through the belief that Christ died for our sins (John 3:16) and faith in His second coming (1 Thessalonians 4:14-18), that we are all "saved" and will enter into the coming Kingdom of Heaven along with Him.

"For the grace of God has appeared that offers SALVATION TO ALL PEOPLE. It teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope - the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ." (Titus 2:11–13 NIV)

"He who testifies to these things says, 'Surely I am coming quickly.' Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen." (Revelation 22:20-21)
