Hate Groups Are On The Rise In America

Hate and hate groups are a part of every society in the world. There is no nation that does not have them and America is no different.

As much as we don't like to think about it there are groups of people in this country that live and love to hate.

They hate every nationality, ethnicity and social group that you could imagine and they do it with pride and boldness.

Many of these groups hold open rallies in public defying anyone to oppose their brazen display of hatred.

The Ku Klux Klan was the first true hate group in America. Started in 1866, the Klan's first initial primary mission was to terrorize newly freed African American slaves, their white supporters and the American government that gave ex-slaves rights in an effort to maintain the status quo of white supremacy that existed in society before their emancipation.

Since that time, in their evolution, the Klan has added Jews, Catholics, homosexuals and various immigrant groups to their list of undesirables.

Over time other groups began to emerge which mimicked the Klan in many ways including neo-nazis, skinheads and white nationalists.

As the popularity of these groups rose so did their numbers reaching a total of 149 groups by 2008 according to figures from the Southern Poverty Law Center. That number exploded after the election of Barack Obama in 2008 to an all-time high of 1,360 groups by 2012.

Some may say that the astronomical increase in hate groups at that particular juncture of time is a curious coincidence. At the least it is that and at the most it is suspicious.

Currently there are 939 known hate groups in America which is still nearly 800 more than prior to 2008. That represents a more than 500% increase in four years.

Americans should be alarmed.

With the number of mass shootings that have occurred in the country in recent years one has to wonder if some of these groups are responsible.

Hate and guns are becoming big business and at some point both need to be dealt with because the alternative is self destruction.
