Big Bird Says "STOP!"

Big Bird Puts The Peck On Obama!

Poor Big Bird the misunderstood welfare queen. What I find pathetic is that Obama is down on the level of triviality he has stooped to to appeal to the ignorant among us. No one wants to kill Big Bird we just need to stop helping to buy the bird seed that 8'2" critter eats. Talk about small ball politics, Obama has hit that level squarely with his nonsensical rhetoric. When you have no record to run on this is where things sometimes end up.

The producers of Sesame Street and PBS itself have asked Obama to knock it off. His campaign managers say they won't because Romney's statement is "fair game." It's fair game for the minds of children but beyond that... Obama wants to be anywhere but on message. He wants to be the Comedian-In-Chief and get the big laugh which he thinks will get him the big vote on November 6th. What a rube and I just read today on a question how people aren't showing respect for the President. With his conduct right now you're damned right he isn't earning respect. Most of us respect the office but obviously Obama does not. it's pathetic that he can't suffer an ass whuppin' with a bit of dignity as other Presidents have.

"I'm Barack Obama And I Approve This Message"

Notice that Barack Hussein Obama approved such a trivial, nonsensical ad himself. That is the best he can do coming off the shellacking he was administered during the first debate? That and his little minions crying, "He lied. He lied. He lied." As a writer, I had to put up with that nonsense during the 2008 campaign and am accused of that during this campaign. It's the liberal way of denying FACTS.

There is absolutely no parallel between Big Bird, Romney and Wall Street. What a total distraction from discussing what should be being discussed - Obama's failed economic policies, his failed foreign policy and his general failure to produce on all those promises you koolaid drinkers supped on during his 2008 campaign. What should have started out as a joke, which it was, has been amplified across the Lame Stream Media into a serious charge. PBS is backing away from Obama's nonsense and isn't appreciative of his "approval" of any such message.

Sherrie Westin, vice president of Sesame Workshop has the explanation in prospective, “The Sesame Workshop receives very, very little funding from PBS. So we are able to raise our funding through philanthropic, through our licensed product, which goes back into the educational programming, through corporate underwriting and sponsorship. So quite frankly, you know, you can debate whether or not there should be funding of Public Broadcasting but when they always sort of tout out Big Bird and say we're going to kill Big Bird; that actually is misleading because ‘Sesame Street’ will be here.”

Read The Sign

Listen up Lefties. Even your rag, The Huffington Post, admits that Big Bird would be in no danger if PBS doesn't receive its government subsidy. Why? Try this on for size. Big Bird and his pals are big business. "Really?" asks the uninformed liberal. Sesame Street struck it rich last year making $46.9 million just from the licensing agreements for Big Birds and his pals. Take that on the old kisser Occupy Movement. The Huff and Puff analysts estimate that Fisher-Price generated a revenue stream between $70-$75 million last year. Is Big Bird paying her fair share?

So Big Bird seems to be safe even if the subsidy to PBS is cut. What a crock of horse manure Obama wants you to look at while the rest of us are looking at his failed job performance. Big Bird is a success and Obama is a failure. Go figure. In truth the annual federal subsidiy amounts to 8% of the PBS budget. It can easily make up that money from the caring liberals who seem to be squawking their heads off as you don't hear a "cheep" from Big Bird.

If we can't cut corporate welfare and that is what the PBS subsidy is, where can we start the cuts? Big Bird doesn't want to be a welfare queen, and looking at the figures above she doesn't need to be. Long live Big Bird so lets get back to what we should be discussing. Hey Obama! Sesame Street just asked that you cease and desist. Are you smart enough to listen? I think not.

It's The Economy Stupid!

QUOTE OF THE DAY FROM SESAME STREET: "We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down." But, but, but... Obama said he approved that message?

"Like" It, "Tweet" It, "Pin " It, "Share It" With Your Followers. Time to let em read it.

Honestly, for the President to spend even a minute of his valuable time on Big Bird is a disgrace. Not like we have any issues going on in the world that just might require some of his time. Ooops, I forgot, he has no idea what is going on outside of his campaign.

tsadjatko - It's called small ball politics and that is what Obama knows best.

Mike - He's just hoping to franchise the "Trickle Me Obama" dolls along with his Obama Mama cell phones :)

I think the ad was an attempt to grab on just anything to keep them afloat. It's pathetic. Even Chris Matthews attacked the ad. I could not believe it.

Chris Mathews is just jealous of Big Bird's tingly legs.

LOL it would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

I hate the fact that taxpayers have to fund that crap anyway.

I would love to be on the committee to decide all the places where our tax dollars will not go to anymore. Big Bird, Libya, Egypt, Mexico . . .

He did say stop and many interesting facts came out from this I am sure Obama the dummy should have kept out of the limelight. Money going to PBS from our government should not be! I wrote about this way before Obama but no one seemed to see the facts these people are rich people and need nothing! This is very interesting.

I agree with Pat - it would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic - our sophmoronic (I know it's not a real word) attitude to the office he holds is so very sad and pathetic. Good read as usual.

The entire Big Bird fiasco, Jim, is simply smoke and mirrors since there are no substantive accomplishments BO can tout. Unless you call spending more trillions of dollars during his term than all the combined presidents before him.

drbj - The truth is he got his butt spanked in the first debate so he wants to get snarky. That's his pattern.

The only word I can come up with to explain this is Stupidity!! All of this makes Obama look like a fool.

The Frog Prince profile image

bpop - A fool usually does look like a fool. His rants out there on the campaign trail about this are sickening to say the least and his handpicked sheeple think he's funny? He's acting like a frigging child.

The Big Bird ad was a complete FAIL. It was so disjointed that it reeks of desperation. Madoff, Lay and that other guy were all jailed for their criminality. Romney isn't making Big Bird out to be a criminal, he's just saying that he is competitive enough to not need government aid -- that's a good thing. For Obama to concentrate on Big Bird while he continues to be silent about his lies regarding Benghazi shows his corrupt morality.

Cassie - I can think of a few people from Obama on down that need to be making little rocks out of big rocks. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones :)

When you have an indefensible record, and you can't just end the discussion, then the only option is to deflect. The "Big Bird" device is a tool to subtly draw voter attention away from what the moderator or opponent asked, and focus on something else instead. This technique is as old as the hills, and nobody is better at than BHO.

As long as there are those raised up with the entitlement emotion, BO will have an audience. They aren't schooled in any other way of thinking. They are controlled with fear. Very sad. That 47% who are raised believing BO is their savior in the flesh, and they still cannot see that he has harmed them and not helped them in the last 4 years.

For the first time in his adult life he's not getting his own way. Instead of being a man and fighting for what he allegedly believes in he's whining like a child. Typical.

I just want to see that wife of his knocked off her self-built pedestal.

I understand the kids are nice but DO NOT mess with Mama.

Big Bird said no, take my ad down, response from the Obama campaign, NO we are going to keep playing it.

That about sums up his entire Presidency.

AV - I think he might be in a bit of a legal bind if they want to push it. It might set a bad precedent if they don't in view of the amount of money they derive from their characters.

b. malin - Listening to Obama out there on the campaign trail with this nonsense should be enough for anyone to realize how really stupid the man is. He thinks he can get votes with his comedy schtick routine. If a person votes for him for that reason it's about as dumb as voting for him because he is black. Maybe even more than stupid than what caused them to vote for this fraud in the first place. We're $16 trillion in the hole and he's acting like an idiot. Go figure.

Poor Big Bird! After this episode http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedd... someone saw Big Bird carrying a binder and trying to buy a plane ticket to Romnesia. When asked what he was doing Big Bird said,

"I don't know, this election has me scared and all confused. I'm scared I'll lose my job and with 23 million unemployed I won't find another job, I hate war and must get away from the war on women 'cause I can't see an "optimal" outcome and if we don't provide security for ambassadors on 9/11 how will we protect the world from IRAN? and I hear the government is trickling down and businesses are scared! I'm afraid to have kids because I'm told they will be born owing $100,0000 and all I hear is none of this would be happening if it wasn't for bush. I don't know what a bush has to do with any of this! I've never been off of Sesame street but all I know is I gotta get out of this Looney Toon country! Where is Romnesia anyway?"

tsadjatko profile image

WAIT A MINUTE! According to the latest Form 990 from Sesame Workshop, the educational nonprofit behind PBS’ “Sesame Street,” Big Bird puppeteer Caroll Spinney was compensated $314,072 in 2010. Spinney, who has been with the show since its inception, also provides the voice and puppet work for Oscar the Grouch. Seems make believe pays very well in this country. We need to get that message to all the college grads who can't find a job.

I think the government needs to send more money to PBS, don't you?

The Frog Prince profile image

tsad - Actually PBS needs to learn to stand on its own two feet and get the heck off of the tax payer's feet :)
