Rachel Dolezal: Entitled, "transracial" or mentally ill?

Rachel Dolezal is a white woman who is also President of the NAACP in Spokane, Washington.  It was recently revealed by her own parents that she is a white woman and not a black woman as she has led people to believe.  She has been living as a light skinned black woman for several years.  Her whole story is a giant mess.

    My question is...

Is this woman entitled, mentally ill or just trying to live as the woman she feels she is inside?  Some have even defended her saying she is "transracial" much like a transsexual person can feel they were born with the wrong gender assigned.  What say you?

It's my understanding her parents adopted four foster black children of which she grew up with. She began to indoctrinate herself into the black culture early on.
This is really nothing new. "Imitation of Life" is a classic movie.
Historically light skinned blacks and some Hispanics have "passed for white" in the past and no one would accuse them of being "entitled" or "mentally ill".
While it may seem odd to choose to abandon a "majority race" in power to identify with a race which has been historically discriminated against for centuries, I'm not sure I'd call her crazy. LOL!

Yes, light skinned blacks have historically passed for white.  They were born looking white enough to do so, and back then it was for survival.  Most black people cannot pass for white but a white person can always tan and perm.

When I first seen this, I thought it was a joke. Why would anyone want to lie about the color of their skin? I mean don't people believe in just being honest anymore?

What do you think about the idea of being transracial?

I believe there is a such thing as being transracial, just not in this sense. What I mean is - there are transracial adoptees, those of another race being adopted into a family of another. Which I think actually gives their experience a whole new meaning and not in a good way. But, Rachel Dolezal, just no. She's merely flexing her clout and getting away with it, something that white people still do with other cultures now.
