Do you think one should have to pass a civics test to qualify to vote?

A person has to pass an exam to get a driver's license, and immigrants must pass the exam to qualify for citizenship. Why or why not?

They'd have to get rid of some of the language in documents like the Declaration of Independence, but yes lets just make it based on an IQ test minimum of 140.

Yes. Also, all people in government should have to pass a comprehensive test on the Constitution and the limits of government.

No. Every citizen over the age of 18 has the right to vote, according to the Constitution. Unfortunately, that includes incredibly stupid people.

Putting exams or extra qualifiers in place to prevent certain people from voting is not only unconstitutional, it's discriminatory.

No, this should not be the case.

There would have to be someone in control of writing it, testing it, and enforcing it. And whoever had the most power, influence, and money would be the one controlling that.

    You're just asking for corruption.

Do I think the majority of the population isn't smart enough to know how to pick candidates who will actually improve the country? Absolutely. However, I have no right to take away their right to make self-destructive decisions.

No, they should not be required to pass a civics exam.  However, anyone who does vote in presidential or state elections should have their head examined . For nearly 250 years the vote has mattered very little. If things haven't gone from bad to worse, then they have certainly gone from bad to bad. A lateral move isn't worth the time and effort.

Just requiring English language fluency and literacy would be progress.
