On January 31, 2013, Christie Hefner of the Center for American Progress said, “There is a dramatic increase in gun violence when it is warmer and we are having this climate change effect that is driving that.” This was the logic used to explain why the homicide rate was so high in Chicago.
On April 4, 2013, Diana DeGette (1st District – CO) spoke about a bill she sponsored, a federal ban on high-capacity magazines. At a public forum, an elderly man questioned the ban, because he was concerned he would not be able to defend himself. He said, “There may not be one bad guy that comes into my house… I have to change magazines? I am at a serious disadvantage. What about me?” A smirking DeGette replied, “The (Denver Police Department) would be there within minutes.” Then, she added, “You’d probably be dead if they had that kind of firepower.” Later, she was speaking about magazines and said, "These are ammunition; they're bullets, so the people who have those now, they're going to shoot them. So, if you ban them in the future, the number of these high-capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time, because the bullets will have been shot and there won't be any more available." People started laughing, as I’m sure you might be doing right now. I hope Mrs. DeGette doesn’t buy a new car each time hers runs out of gas.
Here's another quote from one of our leaders, a person who might get some form of gun control. Sometimes, you just have to wonder if they really know what they are doing when it comes to gun control.
Dianne Feinstein said, "Banning guns addresses a fundamental right of all Americans to feel safe."
I see nobody is looking at this forum, but at least it's amusing for me. . .
Here's another one:
Carolyn McCarthy, in reference to what a barrel shroud was and why it was dangerous, said, "I believe it is a shoulder thing that goes up."
DeGette and Hefner represent a good example of what happens when idiots act out publicly on something they totally do not understand. That man in Denver will never finish the 9-1-1 interview much less see the police arrive to help him. The bad guys know that from experience. The 911 operator has to write a book on the subject before dispatching the officers...to hell with the urgency. Maybe that climate change is also affecting our mental stability in the population so everyone should stay inside until further notice. ~WB
FYI, if you really need Police at a scene, give the address and hang up. No information, they will be there in seconds!
I agree. That wasn't my point. I do believe, however, that many people who want to ban guns are uninformed and ignorant about the topic. Instead, they respond with emotion rather than facts.
Mayor Marion Barry said, "Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country."
I guess that might be true, if you elimate the killings. . . Doesn't Washington also have some of the most stringent gun control?

The NRA leadership (not most of NRA members) currently sees Gun Control as a stark Black and White issue. The NRA et al think that ANY step to keep guns out of the hands of those who shouldn't have them is ipso facto an attempt to keep guns out of the hands of ALL citizens; this is the...

It has become so tiresome seeing all of the radicals on both sides of the Gun Control issue, eacn proposing some "master plan" to control the sale of guns in America. Why can't we do this in "baby steps"?For instance, assault rifles! Just tell me who can justify owning an...

States who care about their citizens finally have a roadmap on how to hold the people who will sell a gun to just anybody to account. This is thanks to Texas and their oppressive, demeaning anti-choice law.California is passing a law, which Gov Newsom will sign, that allows "Californians...

Time to take another look at gun control. How many people go hunting with a handgun or an asault weapon? These guns are made for hunting people. No one has any business packing a 9mm Glock with a 30+ round magazine. These weapons need tighter control and need to be put in the same class as fully...

I was just wondering everyone's thoughts on gun control, are you for or against?

I've been reading and listening to the debate on gun control over the past day. I keep hearing a repeating theme from those who feel guns need to be banned - its for the safety of children. Yet, those same voices are totally against a border wall that would reduce illegal drug...
