Gun Control – Do they understand what they are saying?

On January 31, 2013, Christie Hefner of the Center for American Progress said, “There is a dramatic increase in gun violence when it is warmer and we are having this climate change effect that is driving that.”  This was the logic used to explain why the homicide rate was so high in Chicago.

On April 4, 2013, Diana DeGette (1st District – CO) spoke about a bill she sponsored, a federal ban on high-capacity magazines. At a public forum, an elderly man questioned the ban, because he was concerned he would not be able to defend himself.  He said, “There may not be one bad guy that comes into my house… I have to change magazines? I am at a serious disadvantage. What about me?” A smirking DeGette replied, “The (Denver Police Department) would be there within minutes.”  Then, she added, “You’d probably be dead if they had that kind of firepower.” Later, she was speaking about magazines and said, "These are ammunition; they're bullets, so the people who have those now, they're going to shoot them. So, if you ban them in the future, the number of these high-capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time, because the bullets will have been shot and there won't be any more available." People started laughing, as I’m sure you might be doing right now.  I hope Mrs. DeGette doesn’t buy a new car each time hers runs out of gas.

Here's another quote from one of our leaders, a person who might get some form of gun control.  Sometimes, you just have to wonder if they really know what they are doing when it comes to gun control.

Dianne Feinstein said, "Banning guns addresses a fundamental right of all Americans to feel safe."

I see nobody is looking at this forum, but at least it's amusing for me. . .

    Here's another one:

Carolyn McCarthy, in reference to what a barrel shroud was and why it was dangerous, said, "I believe it is a shoulder thing that goes up."

DeGette and Hefner represent a good example of what happens when idiots act out publicly on something they totally do not understand.  That man in Denver will never finish the 9-1-1 interview much less see the police arrive to help him.  The bad guys know that from experience.  The 911 operator has to write a book on the subject before dispatching the officers...to hell with the urgency.  Maybe that climate change is also affecting our mental stability in the population so everyone should stay inside until further notice.  ~WB

FYI, if you really need Police at a scene, give the address and hang up.  No information, they will be there in seconds!

I agree.  That wasn't my point.  I do believe, however, that many people who want to ban guns are uninformed and ignorant about the topic.  Instead, they respond with emotion rather than facts.

Mayor Marion Barry said, "Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country."

I guess that might be true, if you elimate the killings. . .  Doesn't Washington also have some of the most stringent gun control?
