    They're now saying that the well casing BELOW THE SEA FLOOR may have been damaged and may be leaking oil sideways and eroding undersea rock formations, so that essentially what we could end up with is the sea floor itself leaking oil all over the place, which will put quite a ringer in our ability to contain this mess.

    I don't even know anymore. It's slightly ludicrous, under the circumstances, but I find myself wondering if BP executives have seen a single sci-fi/horror movie of the past 100 years. Heck, this goes back to Frankenstein itself! It is Sci-Fi/Horror Trope Numero Uno, the founding idea of the whole freaking genre: Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!
