Until They All Come Home - How to Adopt Soldiers and send them care packages.

Red Friday

I was sifting through some of my music yesterday to put some on my son's mp3 player, and I stumbled across one I had not heard in a while. Since it is Red Friday, I decided to post the video on here. I love this video make of the song, because it's showing military activities and some are speaking of close calls....you just have to see it.

Somebody's Praying Me Through by Allan Asbury

Lyrics for Somebody's Praying Me Through

Pressing over me like a big blue sky
I know someone has me on their heart tonight
That's why I know it's gonna be alright
'Cause somebody's praying me through
Somebody's praying me through
It may be my Mother, it might be my Dad
Or an old friend I've forgot I had
But whoever it is I'm so glad that
Somebody's praying me through
Somebody's praying me through
Through the tears, through the rain
Through the sorrow, through the pain
It keeps bringing me through
Over and over again
So when you're drowning in a sea of hurt
And it feels like life couldn't get any worse
There's a blessing waiting to push back the curse
'Cause somebody's praying you through
Somebody's praying you through
Someone got down on their knees and prayed for me
Somebody's, somebody's praying you through

How to Reach a Soldier

My Dad served 2 tours in Afghanistan and he has told me what a big difference it makes for them to receive letters from home, or care packages to give them a little piece of home. These people sacrifice their lives, sacrifice time away from their families to defend our country. There are many soldiers who don't have family to send them packages or letters, and that's heartbreaking. If you're interested in contributing to care packages, writing to soldiers, adopting a soldier, or just sending a thank you, here are some ways to do that.

IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW:

FREE BOXES WITH FLAT RATE SHIPPING TO A SOLDIER AT USPS ONLINE GO TO THIS WEBSITE, CHOOSE WHICH SIZE BOXES YOU WANT, AS MANY AS YOU WANT, BOXES ARE 100% FREE AND THERE ARE SPECIFIC ONES FOR MILITARY PACKAGES - WITH PRIORITY MAIL FLAT RATE SHIPPING YOU CAN FILL A BOX WITH ANYTHING NO MATTER THE WEIGHT, IF IT FITS IT SHIPS ALL FOR ONE PRICE. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO LEAVE HOME, YOU CAN PRINT A SHIPPING LABEL FROM THIS SITE, AND THEN SCHEDULE A PICK UP RIGHT FROM YOUR FRONT DOOR.

  • Operation Care & Comfort: where you can donate to assist with postage costs for this organization to send care packages every month. They also have a shopping list available if you want to donate goods, or even put your own package together, it's a great list of items soldiers request.
  • Operation Care Package is another site like Operation Care & Comfort.
  • At Soldiers Angels where "No Soldier goes Unloved", you have a few options of supporting a soldier including: receiving occasional emails with a different soldier's information so you can write them, Adopt a Soldier where you are assigned one soldier to adopt in which you make a COMMITMENT to send at least one letter weekly, and one care package monthly - You can adopt a soldiers family to help throughout the year - also a section of different crafting items to make and donate such as blankets. Very neat Ideas.
  • If you simply want to send a message to our troops, it's so easy to do here. You simply put in your name, type in the message and hit send.

I have heard about this before I know every so often in the UK sites turn up asking for people to send letters to soldiers but cant say I have ever seen care packages for UK soldiers. Might have to dig a bit deeper.

If there is such a service it would be nice. Every soldier needs to feel thought of. :)
