How to make Zebra Cupcakes
How to make Zebra Cupcakes
What You Will Need:
1 Box of White Cake Mix
1 Box of Chocolate Cake Mix
2 cans of White Frosting
2 tubes of black cake decorating gel
1 tube of glittery pink cake decorating gel
Toothpicks
Cupcake liners
Neon Food Coloring (Any color you want)
First thing to do is line your
cupcake pans with the liners. Start making your cake mix and when the batter is
ready, add half a teaspoon of black icing dye. This will darken the color of
the chocolate for better stripes.
Next, prepare the white cake mix. Scoop a cup of the batter and set it aside. For the remaining white batter, add thirty-five drops of pink dye and three drops of purple dye. You can adjust the colors for yourself. Mix the batter thoroughly to get the desired color.
Prepare the cupcake liners and add a spoonful of chocolate to each liner. Gently shake the liner tray so the chocolate is evenly distributed in the liners. Now fill each liner alternately with the different colored batters, shaking the tray in every turn. The spoonful batters should be in the middle of the previous batter. Do not fully fill the cupcake liners, stop about when it is ¾ full.
Now it is time to bake the cupcakes. Check the instructions in the box on how to bake. Make sure it is not underdone by poking the middle of a cupcake. If cupcake batter sticks to the toothpick, bake the cupcakes a little longer. After you are done, let the cupcakes cool for five minutes.
When they are completely cooled, it is time to frost them. Cover each cupcake with white frosting evenly. Prepare your gels for the stripes. Line each cupcake carefully with about four to five lines each. Use toothpicks to line perpendicularly through the gel lines. Repeat this for about five times. Do the same on the other side of the cupcake with a new toothpick.
You can always add a bit more dazzle to your Zebra cupcakes by choosing brighter colors for the batter or adding edible sprinkles or dust. These cupcakes will not only look spectacular but they will also taste great.
