a flower in the arctic snow

The Dream

A Flower out of place.
A Flower out of place.

A young Eskimo man has a dream of seeing a flower. Something he has never seen before. Where he was born and now lives has no such a thing. He asks all his family if they have ever seen a flower. He can still see it in his minds eye, but cannot describe it. He tries every way he knows, even drawing a likeness of it in the soft snow. But it's no use. no-one he talks to can help him.

Someone suggests he go to the next clan. Maybe they are wiser and can offer him assistance in his quest. Sure enough, he arrives at his destination, several days later. One by one, he exhausts all his options, all to no avail. Each time, he is sent on his way, to another clan. There too, he does his very best to describe, what is indescribable to this clan. But it's till a dead end.

He refuses to give up. He is haunted by the beauty of this elusive flower. There HAS to be someone that can help me find it. There MUST be someone that has seen what I have seen in my dream. He keeps moving on.

Then, one morning, he finally reaches the further most group on the icecap. There, for the first time, someone is offering a glimmer of hope. He is directed to the clan's eldest member. There, he does what he has done dozens of times, and describes his dream flower to the ageing man.

"Ah, yes. I have seen such a thing! A thing of great beauty. But, no-one believes I have seen this thing called, a flower".

"My boy" he says. This flower does not exist in our world. You are searching in the wrong place. It is in a land far away, the journey to which will seem like a lifetime for you." He warns. It's a land that has greater beauty than just this flower you seek. But, be warned. Once you reach this land, and see it with your own eyes, the beauty of it will make it near impossible for you to return".

"But return you must"!

"You will have experienced something that only a few ever have. You must return, and tell all your friends and family. This far away land, with it's beauty also has people that will one day change the way of life we know, here in this white, barren land. To us it's home. To them it's a wasteland. Our destiny is in their hands. We must be prepared for the future."

"You must tell them. You must!"

There is a place

Are you searching in the wrong place?

We see the Glory of the Lord almost like a dream. We search for Him in the wasteland of this material world. Looking for the heavenly home we each have embedded in our soul. The scriptures teach that every man has eternity written on their soul.

Sadly, many people give up, because they do not find it in the place where they are searching. In the place where they think it ought to be. Where it MUST be. Then, someone who has seen a glimpse of this eternity, and reaches out, is dismissed. "How could you have seen what I have failed to find?" They say.

"You are deluded. You are a fool. There is no such a thing as a flower. Nor is there a place more beautiful than this one. Stop spreading your message of deception and lies. If you keep this up, we will have to deal with you. You are nothing more than an undereducated moron. We are going to have to re train you. Who have you been hanging out with? What have you been smoking?"

God CAN be found

Jeremiah 29;13 says this.

"You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart."

You will not find Him with your "eyes", but with your HEART. Notice, Jeremiah says exactly that. God is Spirit, and He connects with your Spirit. That's how we KNOW. His presence in your life IS the evidence.
