Was the flooding of earth during the time of Noah... The first time God destroyed the earth?

I do believe that there was destruction and refurbishing prior to the flood. I think the ice age proves it. Some translations of the Bible elude to it in Genesis. If you believe in creationism, you cannot deny that cave men and dinosaurs lived long before us. That is proven.
God says that in the end, the earth will be destroyed and rebuilt. In stands to reason, if He did it before, He will do it again.

There are actually older texts, like the Babylonian tablets that hold the "Epic of Gilgamesh," that talk about a great flood. And Gilgamesh is MUCH older than the Bible, yet the stories are practically identical. I've done some literary research on the flood and written a hub about it on my page...if you're interested in Gilgamesh, take a look!

It was the first and only time that the earth was destroyed. God put the rainbow in the sky as a sign that he would never again destroy the earth by flood.

Are you fishing for information on the 'Gap Theory' i.e. that at the time of the creation God was only refurbishing the surface of earth after the Devil had laid it waste on a previous occasion?

I keep an open mind on this because Genesis 1:1-2 can be read in different ways:

Gen 1:1-2 (KJV)  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The term "without form and void" comes from the Hebrew tohu and bohu. Tohu meaning to lie waste in desolation; an empty place in confusion. And bohu meaning empty and in ruin.

Make of it what you will but it does sound like the Devil's handiwork.

    Over to you Vanteezy

I am a Christian and I believe in science. Scientists have discovered several extinction events have occurred in the past. So it seems that God has destroyed and remade the earth. I also think that the flood was a local and not global event.
