What kind of glue to use for shoe insoles?

I don't want to spend $9 for ShoeGoo. Is there a cheap, simple alternative that will glue an athletic shoe's regular insole to the bottom, so it won't fall out?

Have you tried something like rubber cement? Or maybe silicone tub sealer? I don't know if either of these would actually work, but they are types of glue I'd try if I wanted to try to overcome my foot sweating during exercise, while keeping the sole flexible.

Gorilla glue is a good alternative.  Just make sure it dries for a couple of days before you wear the shoes.  2 part epoxy might work as well...

    Good luck!

You might try using rubber cement. Some shoe repair places use it.

I've glued my insoles with different kinds of glue, but it always melted after a while and then the insole would shift out of place.  I found sewing them in works much better if you can do it.  You need to be able to perforate the insole and have enough fabric on the inside wall of the shoe to thread it though.  Your mileage may vary...

What type of glue depends on the material the insole and upper is made of. With my Civil War brogans I used Gorilla Glue but that was a leather to leather seal. It may vary depending on material. I don't see rubber cement or superglue working very well but I have never tried either of those.

Gorilla Glue would probably be the best alternative, but in all honesty, ShoeGoo is worth the money you pay for it. My boyfriend wears his shoes very hard, and hasn't been disappointed by it. (:
