Have you ever had liposuction?  If not, would you consider it?

According to a newspaper report I just read, a Brazilian model recently died during liposuction surgery.  If you were considering liposuction, would this influence your decision?

I would never have liposuction.  Bodies were not made to be altered like that.  The fact that some patients die having this "safe" procedure should demonstrate that it isn't as safe as the medical profession would have us believe.

The newspaper report you read should definitely influence everyone's thoughts about liposuction. For me personally, I would never consider it. Firstly, I would never go into surgery unless it was absolutely necessary, and that definitely includes cosmetic surgery. Secondly, liposuction will remove fat from a person's body, but the habits that got the fat there in the first place (overeating, eating unhealthy foods, and not being physically active) are all still there. The fat will more than likely return. Lastly, I would never recommend liposuction to anyone because, frankly, making the right nutritional choices and exercising are the only things you have to do to lose weight (that is, if you do not have any kind of medical condition that is causing your weight gain/retention). As it is often said, a person doesn't become overweight in one day, and it definitely takes more than one day to lose unwanted pounds. Liposuction provides people with a "quick fix," but, in reality, it is nothing more than a dangerous, expensive, and temporary way to lose a few inches.

You're right about the fat returning.  This was the third time she had undergone liposuction.
Part of the problem is that models are expected to have ridiculously perfect figures that can often only be achieved by dangerous means.

I'm the type of person to say "never say never" but I still don't think I would consider it.  I would, however, consider CoolSculpting.  It's new and is supposed to be a non-surgical alternative to liposuction.  I'm doing some research and thinking about writing a hub about it!

That would make an interesting Hub. I've never heard of CoolSculpting before.
