Metabolism and How we should Eat to keep Fit everyday

Updated on July 17, 2011

Year after year, we always make it a point to have a set of resolution for the New Year. It usually centers on our life, maily concerning our health.

Three basic food groups are what we need to have a healthy diet and maintain activeness with our physical fitness. If we are fit and healthy, we can think clearly; we'll have a sound mind by having quick and clear decisions. Not only that. The aging process will be slowed. Why? Because, if we are observing proper diet coupled with fitness activities, it will help maintain our A-1 self.

But how will we do it? There are many choices in order to keep a healthy body, inside and out. I've written a hub focusing on our food intake. We are what we eat. The question is: "How will we be able to control our eating habit in order to avoid being obese that can lead to serious diseases, like hypertension, diabetes, kidney trouble and heart attack.

The solution is simple: "Watch your eating schedule". There's a saying that you should eat like a king, a prince and a beggar for one day."

Let me share with you how. It can be simple or complex in the end but with courage and perseverance, you can attain the desired weight you want and be healthy, inside and out.

How Important is Metabolism?

Have you tried slimming tea? Or the yo-yo dieting just to loose unwanted fats? Or resorted into the fast procedure of liposuction in order to have an extreme body makeover?

Well, those who can afford can try everything they want. The big BUT is how will their bodies react on such procedures. So, the best way is to ask the opinion of the experts, your family doctor. Try researching about your physical attributes then you can determine how food intake should be like in order to help maintain your desired physical look. If you want to be thin, medium or big in size, just remember the word METABOLISM.

If you crave for your favorite foods, will you still remember it? I think not! Or maybe. But let us know first, the definition of metabolism.

Metabolism is a set of processes inside our body in order to keep us and organisms alive. Catabolism is its part when breaking up organic matters into smaller units. Then, Anabolism will takes place by consuming those digested matters into protein and other minerals or enzymes.

I'm sure, we will forget the complexities of those terms but to have a simple and tangible steps to make this metabolism work for you and all of us, let us know this reminder by heart:

"Eat like a king in the morning; a prince at noon and a beggar in the evening."

So, how do we do it?

  1. When comparing yourself to a KING; you should eat 'heavy breakfast'! It must feature the three basic food groups that contain carbohydrates, protein, minerals and fibers (lipids). Basically, we usually prepare bread toasts with marmalade or other spread, sunny-side up eggs, milk or orange juice and fresh fruits. How does METABOLISM enter into the scene. Well, it works fast in the morning, so, there's no worry packing 'more energies' on that period.
  2. At noon, act like a PRINCE and eat healthy food (with three basic food groups), half of the portionings that were served in the morning. Lunch should be lighter than breakfast. Metabolism is at an average phase.
  3. In the evening, observe the BEGGARS. More often than not, they don't have anything to eat, not unless, you'll share what you have when you see one of them asking alms from you. So, you can eat a bowl of oats and fruits, like apple or banana. Metabolism is at its slowest rate. Lightest food intake should be observed.

How about the 'in-betweens' or snacks? Try drinking fruit shakes or mineral water, instead.

There are occasions that we cannot avoid the lure of 'overeating' like Christmas parties, New Year or Valentine's; just eat in moderation and don't lavish yourself with what your eyes are feasting. Yes, it can be mouth-watering but: WATCH YOU DIET and think of the possible consequences that you'll suffer later (diabetes, obesity, heart attack, kidney trouble, hypertension, etc. )

If you have a very STRONG SELF-CONTROL & FOOD DISCIPLINE, you will be fit in no time. Faster than reading this hub, I'm sure.

And please, GET ENOUGH REST and SLEEP. It will help metabolism works for you and the rest of us.

And EXERCISE DAILY, at home and in your workplace, too. A simple skipping rope for your cardio-vascular stimulation and the sit-ups and push-ups. Just like that, in a daily basis; it will help normal blood circulation and the metabolism as well.

Don't just sit facing your laptop or desktop writing this hub, like me. Make it a habit to rest for a while then, jump or STREEETCHHHH your arms, rotate your neck, flex your muscles. Like what I'm doing now, after ticking my desktop's keyboard (forming these words).

ONLY YOU CAN HELP YOURSELF. YOU KNOW YOUR BODY, MORE THAN ANYBODY ELSE. LIKE I DO WITH MINE.

Any comment? 'Violent' reactions???
