System Software Recommendations from a Professional PC Service Tech
Ever wondered what software the pros recommend to keep your computer virus free and in top working order?
My name is Jason Seale, and I have been a full time PC Service Tech since 1998, and had many years of intense PC experience before then. I deal with viruses, spyware and bogged-down systems on a day-to-day basis.
Below are some suggestions to help you along your way:
SmitFraudFix is a powerful free utility that cleans certain very intrusive infections very well.
CCleaner is a general clean-up utility that focuses on cleaning up temporary files, personal history from various programs, log files, unneeded uninstall files, and much more.
AVG Antivirus offers free and professional versions of their award winning antivirus software. I have literally installed AVG on hundreds of PCs, and have found very few problems.
AVG runs with a relatively small memory footprint ... which means it will not slow down your computer anywhere near as much as Norton Antivirus or Mcafee Antivirus. In fact, the difference in performance on some machines bewteen using Norton or using AVG is the difference between a computer that is so slow that it is virtually useless, and a computer that responds in a timely and efficient manner.
MalwareBytes' Antimallware is a powerful, free program that cleans up an amazing number of unwanted software, including viruses, spyware, adware, and other malware.
I often find that when an antivirus program is unable to deal with a persistent infection, MalwareBytes' Antimalware is just what I need!
