    What is the best plugin for adding an email subscriptions function to a WordPress blog?

    I actually develop Wordpress plugins, so I do not know which ones are the best. I world develop my own for an email subscription. What exactly are you looking for in an email subscription plugin that would make you call it the best?

    There are several really good email subscriptions  systems available. Many free for use.

    MailChip
    Aweber

    As two good ones that come to mind.

    These Email systems exist outside WordPress, but offer WordPress plugins that permit your Blog to communicate with them with ease.

    Google for them and a whole new Email / Newsletter world could open up.

    Awebers Wordpress plug in is great as you can seamlessly create a sign up form on your site from your Aweber account or just your blog. And if you don't want the standard plug in form designs then go for Awebers range of pop overs or other form types for better subscriber rates.

    I just use the text widget - and add the Google FeedBurner html into that text widget - the html code for it is generated on Google FeedBurner after I select that I want my site's visitors (those who subscribe to my feed via email) to be able to receive email notification of when I publish new posts.
