Have Fun In Singapore

Updated on March 31, 2011

Things To Do In Singapore

Singapore is a shopping haven for some, a unique cultural experience for others. Some even say the racially diverse nation is a center for arts. Singapore is indeed the little red dot on the world map that goes out of its way to please anyone who comes to visit.

Shopping In Singapore

For the shopaholics, the city state would be like a dream come true. The stretch of malls along Orchard Road contains boutique and signature shops by the likes of Prada, Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, marquee brands famous enough for the true blue ‘fashionista’ to have a shoppers’ meltdown. It does not end there. If its electronic goods you are after, places like Funan the IT Mall and Sim Lim Square will definitely turn the average shopper into an electronic whiz kid by the end of the day. There are countless shopping malls all over the tiny island and it lives up to the phrase ‘There’s something for everyone’.

Arts and Theater

For the connoisseur of arts and theater, Singapore does not disappoint. The four museums run by The National Museum of Singapore, namely the national museum, the Singapore Art Museum and two Asian Civilizations Museum are full of artifacts, paintings and relics displayed in a timeless fashion depicting the history of Singapore and Asia. Furthermore, the architecture of the museum is an awe to behold, having a unique Renaissance style since Singapore’s British era. After having the first half of the day appreciating the fine arts, the evening should be topped off with a visit to the Esplanade – Theaters on the Bay. Uniquely designed, the building consists of a concert hall and a theater for performing arts boasting state of the art acoustics. With performances available every evening, there will always be something impressive to view and listen.

Singapore - The Place To Be

Family Holidays

For the family on a tropical holiday, there are plenty of places to visit at any time of the year. The Singapore Zoo will be a certain delight to all members of the family. With its open concept, the zoo houses over 300 species of animals and there are plenty of rides, events and shows for the whole family to enjoy. Placed right beside the zoo is the Singapore Night Safari, the world’s first nocturnal zoo. With over a hundred species of animals to cast your gazes upon, the night safari also features plenty of performances and a deeply interactive animal show. A family vacation will not be complete without the trip to the beach. Located on a small island just off Singapore, Sentosa can be accessed via a car, a bus, a cable car or a monorail. Your family members and you will be greeted with a stunning view of a gigantic Merlion (a mythical creature in Singapore folklore) against the backdrop of mainland Singapore. The beach along Sentosa stretches across two kilometers and various outdoor activities for the whole family are offered, the likes of canoeing, beach volleyball, rollerblading and even mountain biking. To complete the vacation in the garden city, the Singapore Flyer is a definite must-try for the visiting family. It is the largest ferris wheel in the whole world, boasting air-conditioned capsules. The Singapore Flyer offers an outstanding and remarkable view of almost the whole of Singapore, imagine being in one of the capsules late in the evening, staring out upon the glittered streets of Singapore. It would cap a perfect vacation for the whole family.

Singapore is indeed a city paradise for tourists and locals alike. On top of the above-mentioned places of attraction, there are countless other places, a whole slew of activities to participate in, a huge to-do list of things to do in Singapore. Even though the lion city is one of the smallest countries in the world, it offers the complete package for everyone alike.
