Royal Caribbean Reviews: Is Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Better Than Carnival Cruise Lines?

Updated on February 26, 2011

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines...

There are many fantastic things that you can on vacation, but probably the best all-inclusive trip you can plan is on a cruise…  You can easily book a hotel on some tropical island somewhere, but most of the time extras are not included in the nightly rate, and you end up spending a lot more money on meals and entertainment anyway.  You can find very nice all-inclusive resorts, and they include just about everything that you would need to have a great time during your stay, but those prices are also going to be a lot higher than a cruise.

With a cruise you get your first class unlimited meals, top notch entertainment Broadway review shows and great lounge acts or singers, excellent service in your cabin and everywhere else onboard, and also get a chance to travel at sea from island to island!  That’s one of the best parts is to be able to wake up in a new country every day, and all you have to do is get ready for your next shore excursion!  They do all the work and take care of everything for you; your job is just to have fun!

Cruise Deals...

Prices are very good on cruise ships now too, since they are constantly coming out with new and bigger ships to compete with all the others out there…  If you are flexible you can find some fantastic deals and you might even be able to get a 2 week cruise for under $1,000 a person, or a 3 night cruise for only $150!  The more you study the cruise market, the better prepared you’ll be to know the best rates and you can jump on them when they appear.  Waiting to purchase is a good idea because the closer a ship gets to its sailing date and is not at capacity then that’s when the best deals start showing up…

There are many different classes of cruises, and the best service is going to be on the exclusive companies such as Sea Bourne, but they will also charge you an arm and a leg!  The best standard service cruise line I’ve experienced is Royal Caribbean Cruises.  Carnival is a fine company, and they do quite a bit of marketing in order to get you on their ships, but in my mind Royal Caribbean is just a step ahead of them as far as service and quality.  They go that extra mile to make sure that your entire cruise is excellent and they try and make you go away wanting more…

Coco Cay, Bahamas

Coco Cay...

If you are taking a cruise to the Bahamas, Royal Caribbean also has their own island in the chain called Coco Cay where they stop for a day and let you get off and relax and soak up the beaches and sun. To me, that was the best part of the cruise, and there are many activities available for you on shore if you so desire. They have a straw market where you can shop for authentic Bahamian goods, plenty of fold out chairs for you to lay out, great snorkeling right off the beach, and also parasailing and jet skiing for an extra charge… Interested in getting your hair braided the Bahamas way? They have ladies available to hook you up right there on the beach.

One thing you must try if you get to go to Coco Cay is the fabulous blue tropical drinks they have there. I’m not sure what it’s called, but as you can expect it’s fantastic! Unfortunately, the day goes by too fast and before you know it you’re back on the ship getting ready to sail again somewhere else… But all you have to do is to get ready for dinner, because the fun never ends! If you’re in the mood for an all nighter, they always have their midnight buffet on deck to keep you going as long as you can stand it. Whether it’s the pool, casino, dancing in the night club, watching the Broadway shows, or shopping in the ships marketing places, there is plenty to keep you occupied while onboard!

Nassau...

Nassau is another port that the Bahamas trip will stop at, and it also has its many distinct pleasures.  If you’re brave, you can rent one of those little motorized scooters that can take you to all the local sites, but beware, because a leftover present from the British is that they all drive on the wrong side of the road there…  You might just be taking your life into your own hands driving for the first time on a scooter on the other side of the road, if you are used to the other way around.  Nassau also has a straw market, this one much bigger and full of tourists!  You can pretty much purchase anything that you’re looking for there, so bring your money.  If you have some extra time, you can also try the “Fish Fry”, which is farther down the road.  You’ll need to either take a taxi, bus, or your scooter there because it’s too far to walk to.  It’s actually busier and more touristy later in the day, and they have several great restaurants there where you can get a variety of fresh seafood, thus calling it the “Fish Fry”.

Anyway, I highly suggest that you give Royal Caribbean Cruise Line a try if you haven’t already done so.  I think that they are the best cruise company in the Caribbean, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy your trip tremendously!  Have fun!
