I know that the number 9 in Japan is a bad luck numeral. 9 and 4 are regarded as Omen numbers. Japaneese hotels wont even make the room numbers with a 4 or 9. So I read.

In China the number 9 is reveared for good luck and fortune though. Wierd huh.

Then there's the Movie end of Days with Arnie Swartz where the priests insist that 666 is really 999 but the translation was mixed up and it is supposed to be the official Judgement day.

To me Sept 9 2009 is just another reason for the media to get alot of commercial use out of. Labor day sales didn't rake in enough cash I guess.

People like to find random patterns to make time seem more significant.  September 9th, 2009, is important solely for the fact that it's date is written as 9/9/09.  From there, people connect random facts to try and prove the date is special.  The numbers aren't special until people want them to be special, then they do their best to make them special.

Really, 9/9/09, 9/9/99, 8/8/08, 8/8/88, 1/23/45.  They are numbers.  Behold their numeric glory!  Bask in their numerity!  For without them, people would be dateless!  Which, as all earthly people can attest, would be a travesty of numeric proportions!

There are many interesting points to 09/09/09 I don't know about playing the lottery however. To start off any number multiplied by 9 then added together equals 9 again. For example 9x5=45, 4+5=9 or 9x7=63, 6+3=9 or even 9x137=1233, 1+2+3+3=9 or for an outrageous idea 9x475891=4283019, 4+2+8+3+0+1+9=27 and 2+7=9. I just picked random numbers but you can try yourself if you don't believe.

Also 9/9/9 is the last repeating 3 digit date for almost 100 years. until Jan. 1st 2101 with 1/1/1. However I'm more looking forward to 2/2/2222 it only happens once ever 1111 years 1 month and 1 day.

Sure, Sept. 9, 2009 was a significant day. My kids each had a soccer game, one of the local schools hosted a barbecue, my sister celebrated her birthday, and a whole lot of Beatles music was on the air.
