In a longer explanation, Marley was born on February 6, 1945, with the birth name Robert Nesta Marley. He was born in Jamaica, in the parish of Saint Ann, in poverty. Marley was able to achieve international fame from his distinctive sound and chart-topping reggae hits. He was a musician, songwriter, guitarist and singer who went on to create hits among the worldwide society with the Jamaica-styled music he produced, and is now known to be one of the world's best-selling artists in history. Such hits include One Love, Exodus, and Waiting in Vain. Marley died in 1981 at the age of 36 after being diagnosed years earlier with malignant melanoma.
