Shawn J. Gourley is the author of the best selling PTSD book, "The War At Home: One Family's Fight Against PTSD." She is also the co-founder of Military with PTSD an Indiana 501c3 non-profit, a public speaker, and veteran advocate for not only the veterans but their spouses also. Shawn believes the only way to help veterans battling PTSD when they return home is to educate and empower the spouses. Our motto is simple, "Seeing it from both sides." Because to change a situation you have to understand it first. Military with PTSD's mission is to improve and protect the lives of people living with PTSD with a special emphasis on both past and present members of the armed forces as well as their caretakers and family members. Military with PTSD offers both peer support and peer education through connection to others who really do understand this condition and can relate to its effect on the caregiver and family. I am the wife of a disabled Navy veteran with PTSD and a mother of 3 beautiful girls and 1 handsome son. I work everyday with veterans and their families and love my work.
