Insights from a Talented Cook, Nurse, Mother, and Writer
You have so many beautiful and informative Hubs! What kinds of Hubs do you prefer writing? Is there a Hub you wrote that stands out as your favorite and if so, why?
Thank you! My Hubs tend to reflect what I’m learning more about at the time. I’m fascinated with the latest research/information on nutrition, parenting, exercise, health, and child development and writing Hubs gives me a way to share what I’ve learned with a larger audience. Right now I’m learning more about low carb, ketogenic, paleo foods to help control my blood glucose levels, since I have Type 1 diabetes.
You're a wife, mother, registered nurse, and Hubber (among other things and in no particular order). As a long-time fan of yours, I am always wondering: how do you do it all? How do you find balance? What advice can you give to us Hubbers who never seem to have enough hours in a day?
Well, I don’t always find the right balance. Many of the Hubs I’ve written are about finding balance and reducing anxiety and stress because this is something I have struggled with. I don’t think I will ever feel like there are enough hours in the day to accomplish everything I want to accomplish, so I’ve learned over the past year to focus on what is most important to me, which is my faith, family, friends, and work. When I keep my priorities in line, I am less stressed, more present, and content!
I love your food and recipe Hubs. Where do you draw inspiration from?
I am inspired by food that looks and tastes good! I watch the Food Network, surf the internet, and check-out recipe books from my local library. I also like unique recipes that include healthy food items. For example, I love adding avocados to smoothies or creating a squash and zucchini liquid in the blender to substitute for water in recipes, such as tacos. I’m always looking for new ways to “hide” veggies in the recipes I serve to my children.
You've been Hubbing for almost 2 years now. Congratulations! How did you get started and what's your favorite thing about HubPages?
I stumbled across HubPages after my sister inspired me to start up a website. At the time, I was drawn to HubPages because of the community of Hubbers. For the first time I had people commenting on my writing, giving me advice, and helping me navigate the online world.
My favorite thing about HubPages is the community of writers I’ve found here. I love meeting and learning from people across the world.
What advice could you share with Hubbers just starting out?
Stick with it, reach out to other Hubbers, and have fun! It’s an exciting adventure and I wish you the best!
