Tips for Keeping the Ideas Flowing

After a big contest like the HubPot Challenge, it can be tempting to take a break from writing Hubs. Of course, every writer needs (and deserves) to take a break now and then, but we hope you'll keep writing whatever pace is comfortable for you. After all, writing more Hubs is the best way to grow earnings and traffic and to become (or stay) successful on HubPages! Here are a few tips to help prevent a burnout in the wake of a big contest, and to keep the writing process fun:

  • Exercise. Preferably outside, weather permitting. Exercising regularly keeps you healthy and releases endorphins, and getting outdoors will help your body get enough vitamin D. Even a short stroll around the block is great. You'll be surprised how many ideas flow when you take care of your body and give yourself an occasional change of scenery.
  • Make writing a habit. But pace yourself. Write a little every day instead of trying to marathon Hubs for hours at a time. Contests like the HubPot challenge can cause Hubbers to write for longer in order to meet the deadlines, but remember to space out your writing and go at a more comfortable pace now that the contest is finished.
  • Connect with other writers. A support group of people who understand and experience the same problems you do can be a huge help. The other writers in your social group can also help encourage you to write in healthy ways that keep you happy and creative (and provide accountability when you don't!).
