Mobile readership is growing!

HubPages Traffic is Increasingly Mobile

Mobile predictions for the next few months

Mobile readership has been growing by leaps and bounds on HubPages. Paul discussed the increase in mobile traffic in his recent Blog post, and I'll touch on the details here. Just last year, Hub traffic was 32% mobile, and this year our mobile readership is already at 44%. Over the next 6 months, we expect our traffic to reach 50% mobile, and within a year we predict that smartphones will account for the permanent majority of our readers. We've already done a lot to optimize the mobile experience on HubPages, but we still have plans to do more.

Pro Tips

Smartphones are the future of HubPages traffic!

How to Optimize Your Hubs for Mobile

Since mobile readerships is growing so quickly, there are a couple things Hubbers can do to optimize Hubs for readers on smartphones. To ensure that your readers are getting the best possible mobile experience, we recommend that you:

  1. Use full-width capsules wherever possible. Since all capsules become full-width in mobile anyway, it's a good idea to lay them out the way you'd like them to look for your smartphone readers.
  2. Use the Mobile Preview feature in the HubTool. If you are unable to make all of your capsules full-width, you can use this feature to see how your Hub will look on a smartphone and tweak its layout accordingly. Here's how.
    1. When you are writing/editing in the HubTool, click the blue "Preview" button at the top of your screen.
    2. When the Preview window opens, select the "Mobile Preview" tab at the top. This is how your Hub will look to users on a smartphone.

You can read more in Paul's blog post:
