Managing Comments on Your Hubs

Should I Delete This Comment?

Many experienced Hubbers have already mastered comment management, but in my recent Blog Post, I offer some comment tips that beginning and intermediate Hubbers may find useful. One of the most important aspects of comment management is knowing which comments to save and which to delete. You can check out the Blog for more details, but here's a quick guide to the types of comments you'll probably want to delete ASAP:

• Spam comments.
• Comments that are not in English.
• Comments that are off topic.
• Comments with hate speech or excessive profanity.
• Comments with personal attacks.
• Comments with links to personal blogs or websites.

Comment Settings Explained

Understanding the comment settings and how to use them can also be a bit tricky at first. Here's a quick guide to the comment settings and what they mean:

• Disable any further comments from being posted: All your Hub’s current comments will still be visible (and you can still delete old comments if you want), but readers will no longer be able to post any new comments to that Hub.
• Comments must be approved before they appear: We highly recommend choosing this option for all of your Hubs. When a comment is posted, you have the option to approve or delete it before it is visible to your readers.
• Only signed-in users may post comments: If you choose this option, only other Hubbers will be able to comment on your Hubs. Readers who do not have a HubPages account won’t be able to leave comments for you.
• Display most recent comments first: You can choose to order your comments from oldest to newest or newest to oldest. This option is simply a matter of personal preference.
