How to Choose and Set Writing Goals for the New Year

Happy New Year's, friends! 2015 is hours away and if you haven't already, you may want to take a moment to think about your HubPages goals for the coming year. Here are a few tips for setting great goals that will help you grow as a writer:

1. Set achievable goals. Your goals must be things you have control over and that are easily measured. (Instead of "make more money on HubPages" try "write at least 2 Hubs every month.")
2. Set goals that get you pumped. Your goals shouldn't feel like chores. Pick a goal that makes you feel motivated and excited to get that pen (or keyboard) working.
3. Share your goals publicly. Let your friends and family support you along the way and hold you accountable for sticking to your commitment.

If you're having trouble coming up with ideas, here are a few HubPages goals you may want to consider shooting for:

• Participate in a HubChallenge in 2015.
• Reach 50 published Hubs in 2015 (or  whatever number is realistic but meaningful to you).
• Write a Hub that is outside your comfort zone in 2015. (If you normally write informative articles, try a short story or poem. If you're a creative writer, consider a tutorial or explanation Hub.)
• Commit to using your own photos in at least one Hub this year.
• Read one Learning Center article a month in 2015.
• Read and leave a meaningful comment on another Hubber's Hub at least once a week in 2015.

And most of all, whether on HubPages or elsewhere, keep writing. :)
