Think You Can Write the Next Viral Hit?

If you're interested in writing Hubs with viral potential, here are a few common elements to keep in mind:

  • Viral content is positive. Content that makes people feel hope, awe, and inspiration is much more likely to go viral.
  • Viral content is scannable. People often quickly scan an article before deciding if they want to read more. Break your Hub up with beautiful full-width images and descriptive subtitles.
  • Viral content is helpful. Viral hits commonly provide practical, actionable advice that can be followed by anyone and that has the potential to improve a person'a life. (Think Easy 2-Minute Exercises for People with a Sedentary Lifestyle and the like.)
  • Viral content is substantial.  Data shows that blog posts around 1,600 words and up tend to get more social shares.
  • Viral content has great titles. Be clear but catchy, and focus on helping your readers. Here's a great post that goes into more detail on crafting viral titles.

Virality is still predominantly based on luck, but doing everything right can increase your chances. We can't wait to see the next viral Hub! Maybe it will be yours. :)
