Have Great Hubs that Don't Get Much Traffic?

Don't Forget to Tweak the Title

Many of you have written informative and helpful Hubs with loads of great information and beautiful original photos (just what we LOVE to see!). But many Hubbers have at least one or two really useful, informative Hubs that teach a skill, provide information, or solve a problem... and still get very little traffic. Don't give up on those Hubs! Remember that a well-crafted title can make a huge difference in readership.

This week I encourage you to review your low-traffic Hubs and check out the titles. Is your title unclear or does it fail to give readers a good idea of what your article is about? Have you used a less common word or phrase? Check below for more tips on making your titles search-friendly and reader-accessible.

Title Tips

It's perfectly ok to try different titles for your Hub. Give your new title a few months to see if traffic improves and keep working on it if not. Here are a few tips for coming up with a successful title:

• Make it clear and specific. Your readers need to know exactly what the article is about.
• Use words or phrases people are more likely to search for. When deciding which keywords to put in the title, try seeing what comes up in Google Autocomplete. Remember, readers may not know the technical term for things or may be using a different name.
• The title should be as short as possible. Describe the Hub's content, but don't use unnecessary flowery language or artistic phrasing. That style of writing is great for creative pieces, but it may prevent readers from finding your informative content.
