Delishably Launching Soon

The HubPages Food Site Is Almost Here

Today I'm pleased to announce that we're very close to launching the new food and cooking niche site, Delishably! This site will contain Hubs on subjects like recipes, cooking techniques, informative posts on food, groceries, and more. Nutrition and medical diet Hubs, however, will not be showing up on Delishably, but don't worry, there will be a place for them on future sites. Keep an eye out for the launch announcement!

Product Tips for Sites

If you're looking to write or edit Hubs you're hoping will find a home on one of our niche sites, we recommend taking a second look at products. Amazon and eBay Capsule issues are the most common problem we run into while selecting Hubs. Here are a few product tips to keep in mind that will give your Hubs a better chance of being accepted:

Is your Hub product-based? If your Hub is likely to attract readers who are there to shop (Top 10 Fantasy Books for Teens, for example, or Best Backpacking Boots Review) more products may be appropriate to include than in an informative Hub. But you will still need to follow these guidelines:

  • Only include products you mention in your Hub's text.
  • Only include products you have personal experience with. Tell your readers what you like and dislike about the product, how it worked for you, etc. Added value for the reader is key here. You must offer more detail than he/she can find in just the product description on Amazon.

Is your Hub information-based?If you are giving instructions on how to do something or providing information about a subject, your readers are unlikely to be there to shop. Do not include products unless they will improve the reader's experience. Here are a few examples of cases in which you may want to include products:

  • You are providing instructions for doing a task that requires (or is much easier with) a specific tool or ingredient that your readers are unlikely to already have. Be sure to explain why this object is needed or how it can improve the experience and why you, personally, recommend it.
  • You are giving an overview and a product provides more detailed information on a specific aspect. For example, if you are discussing dog grooming and include a chapter on trimming your dog's nails, it might be appropriate to include a book on trimming your dog's nails where you can read more about that particular aspect of grooming, should you want to. Be sure to include what you liked about the product and why you think it's a good supplement.
