10 Ways to Avoid the Winter Cold

Winter is here! While some can't get enough of the snow and winter sports, there are many of us who despise the cold and are yearning for summer.

While it might seem that there is nothing to do if you can't leave your house all day, that simply isn't true! Here are some sure-fire ways to avoid the winter chill and take full advantage of staying inside all day long!

10 Fun Indoor Winter Activities:

  1. Make a fire: Obviously, only do this if you have a useable fireplace! Sitting by a crackling fire can give the illusion of a cozy winter, minus the freezing temperature.
  2. Start a new book or audiobook: Forget about the blizzard outside and get inwrapped in a new storyline. Audiobooks are also great for multitasking since all you have to do is listen! You can find audiobooks on Audible or check them out from your local library using Libby.
  3. Listen to a podcast: Similar to audiobooks, podcasts are great to turn on in the background while multitasking. Additionally, podcasts can make you feel less isolated if you live alone.
  4. Binge a TV show: Nothing says bad weather like curling up on the couch and starting a new show. Some easily binge-able shows are Succession, Ozark, Only Murders in the Building, The White Lotus, Friends, Real Housewives, New Girl, and Game of Thrones.
  5. Bake something: Craving cookies or a cake? Make it yourself! Head over to Delishably, find some new recipes, and get busy in the kitchen.
  6. Call friends and family: Haven't caught up with friends in a while? Hop on Facetime and call everyone in your contacts! (Ok.. maybe not everyone but you get the point!)
  7. Do a puzzle: Puzzles are addictive, and once you start, it's hard to stop. Nothing will make your day go by faster than hunkering down and dominating a 1,000 piece puzzle.
  8. Deep clean: When's the last time you really really cleaned your bathroom? Chances are, a while! Whip out the bleach and get busy!
  9. Clean your closets: Out with the old and in with the new!
  10. Take a bath: There's no better way to relax than lighting a candle and slipping into a warm bath. The warmth will make you totally forget about the raging winter storm outside!

Keep calm and stay warm!

Why Should You Include an Author Bio?

Author bios help readers learn a little about you before diving into your content. It's human nature to be curious about other people's backgrounds, experiences, etc. Alleviate the mystery and give readers a chance to get to know you.

You might be wondering what exactly to add to your bio, and we recommend a few different things. Here are a few ideas to get you started!

Things to Add to a Bio:

  • Personal facts: Including information about where you live, how long you've lived there, etc., can help personalize your articles if relevant! You don't have to give away too much, but it's fun to add a little something-something.
  • Credentials: Do you have a degree in your article's subject? Let your readers know! This will help prove that you know what you are talking about and give you more credibility!
  • Experiences: Do you have hands-on experience with your topic? Have you attended classes, talks, or lectures about it? Tell us! This will once again add credibility to your article.
  • Fun Facts: Personalize your bio by adding a relevant fun fact about the article's topic. Has your family been making this recipe since you were a toddler? Adding funny anecdotes can give your readers a comedic refresh.
  • Writing Themes: Do you like to write about a particular topic or theme? Let the reader know so that they will come back to your profile if and when they have a question about a specific topic!

Once again, a reader isn't asking for your whole life story, but a few sentences can go a long way!
