Three Newly Released Books

Spirituality, Fiction, and Memoirs Galore!

Are you itching to get your hands on a new book? Luckily for you, a handful of new titles have been released this week, and they all look riveting. Take a look at these brand-new books, and, who knows, maybe one of them will be your new favorite!

  • Soul Boom: Why We Need a Spiritual Revolution by Rainn Wilson: Famous for his role as Dwight Schrute on The Office and for co-creating the media company SoulPancake, Soul Bloom is Rainn Wilson's third book. This project is a reflection of Wilson’s own search for spirituality and describes his ways of coping with the stresses of existence. In their description of the book, Barnes and Noble explains: “Filled with genuine insight—not to mention enlightening Kung Fu and Star Trek references—Soul Boom delves into ancient wisdom to seek out practical, transformative answers to life’s biggest questions.”
  • Happy Place by Emily Henry: Emily Henry, the author of People We Meet on Vacation and Book Club, has come out with a new rom-com novel, Happy Place. Similar to her other work, this new fiction is described as a classic beach read—meaning it’s lighthearted, breezy, and perfect to get sucked into while you’re out lounging in the sun. Happy Place features a young couple who secretly broke up months ago but are pretending to stay together for the sake of the vacation they booked with their friends. Will they make it through, or will they blow their cover by going at each other’s throats all week?
  • Don’t Tell Anybody the Secrets I Told You by Lucinda Williams: This book is for those classic country music lovers out there. Lucinda Williams, singer, songwriter, and three-time Grammy winner, has published a memoir about her life on and off the stage. Williams’s childhood was rough, and in this book, she reflects on how the challenges she faced led her to a career in music and to fame. Don’t Tell Anybody the Secrets I Told You is a story about how perseverance and strength can change your life, told by a woman with firsthand experience.

Pro Tips

What Are Spammy Elements?

This week, our HubPages pro tip is about spam. Merriam-Webster defines spam (or spamming) as "unsolicited usually commercial messages (such as emails, text messages, or Internet postings) sent to a large number of recipients." On HubPages, spammy elements are products, links, and wording that feel excessive and make the article appear to be motivated by earnings or traffic rather than motivated by a desire to share information.

When reviewing articles, our moderators and editors look for spammy elements to ensure no scammy or untrustworthy content is published on our network sites. To avoid having your content flagged as spammy and to up your chances of being published, here are some things to avoid:

  • Links that promote something rather than help the reader better understand the content of the article.
  • Links that have an ulterior motive (monetary or otherwise).
  • Self-referential, redundant, or poor-quality links. (Note: If you have a different website you regularly publish content on, do not link it in your articles. Instead, link to it in your profile bio.)
  • Overuse of keywords, also known as "stuffing."
