Welcome, 2024!

What Can We Expect in the New Year?

And with that, we have reached the end of 2023! Well, not quite. We still have Christmas and New Year's Eve to celebrate, but this will be our last newsletter for the year!

As always, thank you to all of our writers for all the hard work you have put in the last 12 months; it has resulted in countless interesting, well-versed articles covering all kinds of topics.

As for 2024, there are so many things to anticipate and look forward to; here are a few of them!

  • Next year is a leap year! Though February 29 oftentimes turns out to be just like any other day of the year, you can still make it a fun experience by looking for local activities or celebrating with friends the day that only comes around every four years.
  • Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, more commonly referred to as the 2024 Summer Olympics, will be held in Paris, France, and will run from July 26 through August 11. The 2024 Paralympic Games will run from August 28 through September 8. And an opening ceremony on the Seine and Jardins du Trocadéro should make one of the most-watched sporting events in the world even more exciting!
  • Elections! Though you might not look forward to them, they definitely are something to anticipate. For the majority of 2024, there will undoubtedly be extensive worldwide coverage of the United States presidential election, but dozens of others are also being held across the globe. The European Union will vote in a new parliament in June, while Finland, Iceland, Taiwan, and Sri Lanka will all vote for a new president. Those are just a few of the hundreds of legislative and local elections we all have the opportunity to participate in!

Whether 2023 was everything you hoped it would be or not, 2024 will surely bring about important and long-lasting changes!

Perfecting SEO, or Not?

Much like languages, SEO is constantly changing. It can change by the day as it depends on what topics and words are trending and bringing up articles in search results, and it can change with each software and technology update that rolls out (likely far more often than many of us probably realize).

So, there's no way your SEO will ever be perfect, and that's okay!

What's important is to stay on top of changes and see what modifications you can make to your articles. And this comes directly from Google's own John Mueller, who, as a Search Advocate for the company, presented the idea of "no perfect SEO" during his office hours a few days ago.

If you are interested in hearing more about his take on SEO and what Google's changes are regarding SEO, you can check out their YouTube channel. If not, the HubPages editing team will, of course, try to stay updated and keep all of our writers updated on SEO best practices.

That said, our favorite acronym, EEAT (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) is always what you should go off of when writing an article.

You can be sure to anticipate SEO tips and updates in our newsletters going forward!
