Easter Content and Google Updates

We're just a few days out from Easter, so the editing team figured we'd remind you that now is as good of a time as ever to write an article or two about your favorite Easter recipe or any other seasonal content that's popular around this time of year!

Other ideas could be springtime arts and crafts for students or children and garden articles about springtime plants and flowers. Do you have a unique approach to Easter egg hunts? Share that! Or what about a poem about the spring season or why the Easter holiday is important to you?

The HubPages team is still working through what you might call some "spring cleaning" on Dengarden, so we'd also like to remind you how updating bios, double-checking product capsules, and even looking back on all your published work are great things to get done this time of year.

And finally, here are some brief points on where Google is on their March 2024 core and spam updates. The spam update finished last Wednesday, while the core update has a few more weeks before it's completely rolled out. The specifics of the spam update were less clear than those of the core updates.

Still, small changes to articles, like those we recommended to bios and product capsules, are worthwhile at this time, while overhauling your work in regard to Google's recent updates is not. Since the updates haven't been rolled out in full, it's hard to judge exactly what changes should be made to satisfy Google Search.

Wrapping Up Your Articles

Sometimes, after you've put in all the brunt work of an article—sourcing, formatting, and, of course, writing—you want just to finish and call it complete. But too often, pieces are left feeling rushed or incomplete, even if you did take the time to add sources at the end.

Instead of your last point being made and your article coming to an abrupt end, here are some suggestions to help make your piece feel completely wrapped up.

  • Make sure you add some concluding text under a distinguishable header—it can be as simple as something like "Final Thoughts." Even if it's just a few sentences, try reiterating your piece's main point(s) to show how you've paid attention to bringing your work full circle.
  • Add a poll! Especially if you've composed a listicle, ask your readers which of what you just discussed is their favorite or personal pick. It will increase both the time spent on the page and clicks!
  • A "Further Reading" section is another good idea and a way of interlinking your article with others on our network sites. If your article's text didn't give you many options to interlink the plain text, now is your chance! The same network site is ideal for interlinking, but another under the HubPages brand is still helpful!
