Time to Update Your Summer Content!

With summer weather beginning to sweep the Northern Hemisphere and the solstice coming next Thursday, June 20, the HubPages editing team recommends everyone think about any of their articles that could use a seasonal update.

Consider articles like travel pieces on WanderWisdom that could use a refresher regarding visiting tips or Holidappy articles about summer break activities and Fourth of July parties where you could add new information.

Those are perhaps the most obvious sites that host summer content but think hard about your work on other sites as well. Do you have articles on WeHaveKids that deal with summertime topics you could add anything to? What about a favorite summer recipe of yours on Delishably where you've recently altered the ingredients? Make sure to let your readers know!

Remember, if your article revolves around a specific day—say Father's Day, Fourth of July, or Juneteenth—it's best to make your updates at least a week or two before the actual event. If your article is about party ideas, waiting until the day before the holiday to make changes will be less beneficial since most people will already have planned the party!

Pro Tips

Navigating Using AI Images

AI is seemingly taking over the internet. You probably feel this way, and the HubPages editing team feels it, too. From Meta AI now available on Instagram to AI Overviews in Google searches and Canva's Mojo AI, it's becoming increasingly difficult to figure out if what you're consuming is AI or human-generated.

AI is not always a bad thing, but in terms of HubPages and the type of content we produce and publish—informative and unique content written for people by people all over the world—minimizing the use of AI will help us maintain our identity.

Therefore, we recommend you try to avoid using AI-generated images throughout your articles. In many cases, you can find a real image or even human-made art that gives the same idea as flashy AI that catches your attention. AI images aren't explicitly against the rules for publishing on our network sites, but real images are strongly preferred.

As for research, if you find answers to your questions while writing your article in AI Overviews, make sure you corroborate it on a site with sources and more information. Though AI is correct a lot of the time, it's not 100%!

In terms of writing, we still look for pieces that sound like they're written by humans. AI has become a lot smarter and the writing more human-like, but there are ways to hone in on if something isn't composed by a person. The chances of it being edited or published if AI is suspected are slim.

To everyone taking their own images and writing and editing their own work, the HubPages team sends a big thank you!
