A Very Special Boudoir Photography Session
Introduction
Boudoir photography and Fantasy Photography owner, Daphne Weld Nichols, often gets called by prestigious clients, from celebrities to the rich and famous. So she was not surprised to be asked to do a boudoir photography session at the famous Belcourt Castle in Newport, RI. for a V.I.P. client. What she did not know was how very special this client would turn out to be!
The Castle
The Belcourt Castle located on Bellevue Avenue in Newport was built in 1891 and designed in the multitude of European styles and periods, with heavy emphasis on French Renaissance and Gothic décor. It is the third largest mansion in Newport, after the Breakers and Ochre Court.
It's the only Mansion in Newport which is both open to the public and has a private residence. Harle Tinney, the gracious and extremely hospitable owner, opens her doors to the public for private tours and special events.
A Wealth of Glamour Photography Settings
The castle was indeed going to be the perfect setting for a glamour photography session and it certainly was boudoir photographer Daphne’s dream location.
The rooms contained numerous items from the Tinney collection of antiques and reproductions.
There was a room dedicated to stained glass which reflected a rainbow light bouncing everywhere.
The gold gilded coronation coach - which the Tinney’s had custom made - would turn also make a great setting.
A centerpiece of the Tinney additions is an enormous Imperial Russian-style chandelier, which holds 13,000 rock crystal prisms and 105 lights, with 125 reflecting mirrors on the interior.
The Ultimate Boudoir Photography Setting
Daphne became very intrigued when she saw that the mansion had a richly decorated boudoir room, an ideal setting to take a boudoir photo or even an intimate sensual photo of her special client, reclining and feeling the luxurious sensations on the Victorian bed. She imagined silks and satins, wonderful makeup for her client. But something was a bit odd…
When Daphne, the well known portrait glamour photographer, and her Fantasy Photography crew of assistants and stylists arrived at the castle they were greeted by a large group of guests and dog lovers from all over Rhode Island.
This seemed a bit odd, but the mystery was soon solved. Daphne's VIP client was a real dog - literally!
The Amazing Client
Her client was Rufus, an English Bull Terrier who was the first and only English Bull Terrier to win at The Westminster Dog Show for "Best of Show" in 2006. Since that time Rufus has toured the country doing fund raisers, appearing on national television and radio to help bring public awareness to orphaned and abandoned dogs.
Having previously toured the Belcourt Castle - Daphne knew the locations in the mansion where she wanted to capture the essence of his majesty. He was photographed looking regal in the gold carriage,
then, in front of the stained glass panels.
And, later he posed in the garden room between two Chinese Foo dogs.
The boudoir photography and glamour photography session climaxed in the mystical, ornate Victorian style boudoir room.
With little or no coaching, Rufus jumped up upon the beautiful bed adorned with satin spread. He got into a ‘glamorous’ pose and his boudoir photo was taken.
Daphne, then snuggled up to him on the bed and struck an intimate pose to show her affection for this unusual and very affectionate client. Harle Tinney, Rufus owner was thrilled with the results!
Conclusion
This photo shoot will be one of our most memorable. Only Daphne could take an English Bull Terrier and make him look charming, debonair, regal and yes, sexy. Rufus’s fantasy is forever captured in his boudoir portrait. His owner now has a lasting portrait of her loving and award winning pet. Everyone is happy, especially Rufus!
