ANGEL BABY, MY ANGEL BABY

For 5 months now, I have been helping a wonderful woman and her cat. She is going through a trial chemo series and her cat, Angel, is being treated daily for renal failure. Every day, I go to visit Angel and Carolynn. During those hours, I do things to help around the house and give Angel her required meds and subQ fluids. I've grown to love both of these sweet souls...I wish I'd met Carolynn a long time ago when times were better for her. We have had great times going out to local venues and I wish there were endless days ahead for our friendship to grow. Thinking about Carolynn and her deep love and devotion to her 15 year old companion kitty, Angel, I wrote this poem a little while ago for the two of them. The reference to "insults" and "assaults" is about the daily treatments Angel receives at my hands. Though they aren't really assaults or insults, sometimes, Angel thinks they are......The entro is as if Carolynn is speaking and, also, remembering her dearly departed soulmate, Michael.....

MY ANGEL BABY

"We've been through so much, you and me. We're both dealing with life and death decisions. You endure daily insults but, sweet Angel; these assaults are saving your life. I cannot imagine my life withyou you. And I, I am about to enter a grueling schedule of Dr. visits and tests which promise an extension of our time together. With the loving help of friends and prayers from our ever extending circle of caring souls; I am certain that we shall spend much more time together. I love you, my sweet Angel baby."

"Angel baby, my angel baby........" Michael sang this to you as I do, today. I can hear him now, his voice so clear. He could always carry a tune better than I. .... "

Fifteen years we've shared together
Fifteen years, so close are we
Through thick and thin; through tumultuous weather
