Poem: Vanished...

CrisSp is your Emergency Specialist at 37 thousand feet. A writer without a niche. Wonderwoman consumed by wanderlust!

You vanished in the spectrum of daylight

After three sweet years

You were gone just like that

Without a word of goodbye.

I was scared of you in the beginning

But you made your way and captured my heart

Your charming smile, dimpled cheek

And I secretly fell in love with you.

I still see you sitting by the stairwell,

Just like how you used to do waiting for me

I see you peeking at the window

And when caught, slowly hide your face away.

Reminiscing the lazy days spent with you

You’re so laid back happy to just nap

I love to tickle your chubby tummy

Go belly up and boredom flunk.

I wonder now, what are you doing,

Who tickles you and kissing your nose?

T’was short and sweet but I think of you so tenderly

And wish you didn’t have to go.

delia-delia: Thank you. It was in November 2009 when we lost Oreo and there were other sad and not so good things that happened then. This is also why, I personally don't like the month of gloomy November. My best wishes to you and your kitty and again, thank you for reading and commenting. It is very much appreciated.

What a sweet and well written Poem! I feel so bad you lost Oreo...I'm assuming he left or ran away, and did not pass...hopefully he's got a good life somewhere.

I wrote about my Kitty and pray I don't have to have the pain of losing her like that.

FlourishAnyway: What a coincidence, indeed! We planned to get another one after Oreo or a pup but I was diagnosed with severe rhinitis, which causes breathing difficulties. Hence, we cannot have any pets in the house anymore. *sad* Not even birds as feathers will make me sneeze continuously. My house cannot have anything now that will trigger it. We do miss Oreo though and he's always in our hearts. I do support the nearest shelter in our community though by any means that my family and I can. Thank you so dearly for stopping by. I sincerely appreciate your words. Take care now.

This breaks my heart both for you and your kitty who misses you. I know the sadness of losing a pet, too. (Oddly, his name was Oreo, too.) He went missing 10 days after we moved to a new home in another state. I put up signs, knocked door to door, visited shelters, made phone calls, offered a large reward for his return, put an ad in the paper. No Oreo. I miss him still. I hope you will consider another pet, cat or dog, from a shelter. So many need a loving home. Don't be afraid to love again.

Hi Audra! Sorry about Leona and Francis (and the big "D"). I know, it was sad and still sad...we miss Oreo. Let's just hope that they are in good hands--all of them. I'm sure you are in a better position now after the big "D". After all, the show must go on right? And, life is beautiful just like you.

Thanks for stopping by. It's nice to know that this humble hubber was able to touch your heart through this poem.

      Love from the sky~

Oh no, that's a very sad story and that rat poison is scary too. Tears on my eyes...I still sometime could feel our Oreo's presence in the house. Thank goodness, we have some good photos to remember him.

Thank you for your visit MizBejabbers. I will share your story with my girls.

This is a very lovely poem to a beautiful kitty, and I can relate to it. It makes me tear up. In 1999 our Andy disappeared without a trace. He was a stray we took in 1 1/2 years before, who refused to stay in the house. He left his collar behind, which we believe was his way of saying goodbye. I've always hoped he was taken by a kind family, but I fear the worst.

Here's something you don't want to hear. Years ago the kids an I lived in a little house that came with a pregnant cat. We kept her and raised her kittens except for two that we gave to good homes. She disappeared and so did one of the kittens we kept. About a year later the last kitten came home after a 3-day disappearance. She was very ill and dehydrated. The vet said she would be OK since she was recovering, so he didn't need to see her. A couple of months later it happened again, same MO. Again she survived, only to be hit by a car and killed a few months later. We later figured out that she was being poisoned from rat poison people were putting out, and we think that is what happened to her mother and sister. They just never made it home. I won't let my pets roam outside now, and Tas just hates it. He loved climbing trees and being free when we adopted him. I just can't bear the thought of losing him to a coyote or other natural danger in our woods. Voted your beautiful poem Up ++

Rated "beautiful". You are certainly not alone and I'm glad you have been able to express yourself for others to read and take solace in your words. I really am moved by the phrases you use - you have a very distinct way of writing.

What a bittersweet story about your missing cat. Well, you show hope, and love by wondering who is loving Oreo new. BTW I once had 2 B&W cats, and I named one Oreo and the other Domino!

I feel sad for your loss. I love my Tabby who has left with my friend to the other side of the country. I let her go because I couldn't have a cat where I was moving to, also my friends daughter has a female feline as well and my Ms Tabby took her under her paw to raise her as her little sister, I couldn't break them up. Yet, I am sad that I don't have her in my life any longer, she was my joy and now being alone here without her makes it tough some nights. I loved her so. Hugs to you I pray that she finds her way back to you.....cats do you know.

Aww....thank you my dear Collin. I didn't mean to let you cry but I was sad too when I found out about Oreo. *sad face* We miss him dearly everyday. You're blessed for having Little Miss Tiffy and Mister Gabriel --2 beautiful creatures as your companion.

Thank you again for the support, warm wishes and most of all the good energy that I needed the most.

....truthfully not too many hubs or hub poems make me really cry but this one sure did - as you can imagine someone who has no family in this world (me) then his two best friends are his cats Little Miss Tiffy and Mister Gabriel. Miss Tiffy was my mum's cat and is now a diva and she is 18. Mister Gabriel is a deaf cat but I take him out on walks with his leash and he loves it.

Yes these words of yours were very hard to read especially in the fact that you really don't know what happened to your dear beloved friend.

Sending you my support and warm wishes and good energy from lake erie time ontario canada 2:45pm

Hi Cris, how sad! I have always noticed that if a cat goes missing it isn't far away, maybe around the next road? someone is probably feeding it, have you put signs out? a polydactyly cat should be quite easy to track maybe? I wrote a hub about syndactyly and polydactyly, fascinating subject, wonderful poem, nell

Told you I would go straight over to this!

What a beautiful poem. You’ve captured exactly what it is about cats that tugs at our hearts.

Oreo was a polydactyl cat … sometimes called a mitten or boxing glove cat because of his extra toes. (I’ve written a hub about that too :)

He looks like a really nice boy … I can see how easy it would be to miss him. It must be hard not knowing what happened to him.

      Voted up!

Very tender and sweet, Cris. Makes me reminisce about my two cats (Sam the Siamese and Phantom the black cat). They both left and went, no purr, no meow, no goodbyes. Still a mystery.
